A moan escapes me and I slump forward, wanting more of him.

“Stop it already. She hasn’t eaten a thing since breakfast yesterday,” Julian’s voice makes Damon pull away.

I was hungry when I woke up but my body’s suffering from a different kind of hunger right now. Damon’s lips are the only thing I want to nibble on right now.

“Let’s not feed her burnt pancakes,” Damon says, striding toward the counter.

“They were golden brown, not burned,” Julian pouts.

Damon chuckles. “Even you couldn’t eat them and Caleb had to make us scrambled eggs.” He glances back at me. “You’ve spoiled us, Wildcat. We can barely eat anything that’s not cooked by you.”

His appreciation makes me smile.

“Hey, Jules! Darling, what’re you doing?” Damon calls out, walking toward the fridge.

Julian was bent forward and rummaging inside the open refrigerator.

“It’s too late for breakfast, so I’m going to make her some sandwiches,” Julian says with his head inside the fridge.

“How about you stick to making peanut butter and jelly?”

Julian scoffs, straightening up with an armful of vegetables and jars of condiments. “You just promised to indulge her and you’re going to feed her peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?”

“I don’t mind,” I say with a chuckle. “They’re sort of a staple for me.”

“See?” Damon urges. “She loves them.”

Julian glances sideways at him.

“Come on, Jules,” Damon says in a coaxing tone. “Don’t you want me making the Damon special?” He wags his eyebrows suggestively at Julian.

A change comes over Julian immediately.

“Here, you go,” he says, dumping all the ingredients in Damon’s arms. “I’ll make some peanut butter sandwiches while you make us your specialty. It’s been a while since I’ve eaten anything as indulgent as that.”

“Yes!” I cheer. “I’m starving. Should I help you with something?”

“Nah,” says Damon. “You sit back and relax. Let us take care of you for a change.”

“Here’s some special coffee and cake for you,” Julian says, standing before me with a small tray. He places it on the table before me and stands back. “Enjoy!” His eyes crinkle into a happy smile.

“Thanks,” I say, staring at a generous slice of carrot cake.

Julian turns on the music and together, he and Damon start prepping sandwiches.

My insides swell with pure happiness as I sip on my coffee and watch them work.

Julian’s got a funny, focused look as he slathers peanut butter on the bread slices. He’s doing his best to spread the thick butter evenly on every corner.

I break into the cake and take a bite.

“Yum,” I whisper, taking a quick second bite.

Damon’s at the counter, slicing tomatoes with the precision of a trained Japanese chef. He looks like he knows what he’s doing. From time to time, he glances at me, making my heart flutter.

No one has ever spoiled me to this extent.

My body soon relaxes. I lean against the chair and get lost in the warmth spreading through me.
