“I told you to stay still,” says the alpha, balancing both my feet firmly on the ground.

Too dazed, I obey the command while he quickly ties the length of rope around both my ankles.

“Time to go, wildcat,” he says, bending down. Next moment, he hauls me over his shoulder like a sack of wheat.

“Put me down!” I shout.

“Nope.”

Feet tied and hands handcuffed behind my back, I dangle uselessly from his shoulder. Fear and frustration crash inside me.

Where is he going to take me?

The alpha drops me into the backseat of his car and takes the wheel. It’s the same van with tinted windows that has been following me throughout the day.

I writhe, hating the way I’m bound and trapped to him. The intensity of his overwhelming scent reduces, allowing me to breathe in his presence.

My heart stutters to a stop and then starts beating hard when he steps on the gas. The van pulls away from the house and takes me further away.

This late at night, the lights are out in almost every house along the street.

None of the neighbors would know what happened to me or my family. They made sure to stay undetected while they waited for me inside the house.

“Why’re you doing this?” I ask. “Where are my parents? Where’s my sister? What have you done to them?”

The alpha glances over his shoulder. “Be a good kitty and stay quiet.”

“I’m not going to stay quiet!” I shout.

He glances back and his lips curve into an evil grin. “Want me to put duct tape over that loud mouth?”

I gnash my teeth together, biting the retort on my tongue. I didn’t want him to touch me again.

My anxiety grows as time passes.

I catch glimpses of silver ash trees lining a dark highway through the window. We are already far from Winslow’s downtown area.

Tears prick my eyes as defeat and desperation swell inside me. Swallowing hard, I blink hard, refusing to let this man see me being so vulnerable.

I need to calm down and assess the situation.

Maybe it’s a good thing he’s taking me to his boss or leader. I need to know why these aggressive men have targeted me and my family.

At long last, the van comes to a stop.

The alpha turns around to glance at me. “Are you doing okay?”

“Fuck you,” I snap before I can stop myself.

To my surprise, he smiles like I said something amusing. His shit-eating grin pisses me off but I hold my tongue.

“Can you free my legs? Please?”I say through gritted teeth.

“Sure, but you must know something first,” he says, proceeding to climb out of the van. Coming over to the back, he opens the door to my side. “I will chop off those feet if you kick me again. Do you understand, wild cat?”
