Damon chuckles at my side, deepening my embarrassment.

“She’s an interesting one,” says a different voice.

My gaze snaps to the other man who comes up beside Caleb.

Holy shit, I think, staring at the stranger. He’s as demonically beautiful as the alpha beside me. He’s more rugged than Damon with dark hair and ice-blue eyes.

“Why did you bring her here?” Caleb asks in a grim tone.

“The Collins are neither going to hand over our surrogate nor pay back what they owe us,” says Damon. “She can act as an incentive to remind them what they owe us.”

“Surrogate?” I blurt. “What’re you talking about? And do you have any proof my parents took money from you?”

“She’s absolutely clueless,” says the handsome stranger.

“You’re right there, Raiden,” says Damon. “She has no idea what her parents did. We followed her throughout the day. She went to her usual job and came back home on time. Kitty wasn’t expecting us at all.”

“Stop calling me that,” I mutter. My pheromone-soaked brain is embarrassed about Julian hearing that stupid nickname.

“She’s utterly useless,” Caleb spats. “It’s obvious her parents don’t care enough about her. If they did, they’d have taken her with them. Instead, they abandon her to the wolves. If I’d known the Collins were such asswipes, I’d have never entered into a deal with them.”

“Don’t insult my parents,” I say in a grim tone. My voice sounds pathetically small but I’m determined not to give up.

“They cheated me,” Caleb shouts, making me back away.

“You’re scaring her,” says the rugged stranger.

“What am I supposed to do, Raiden?” Caleb asks. “Treat her like a princess when her parents deceived all of us?”

“What did they do?” I ask.

“What did they do?” Caleb spats my question back at me. “They took three million dollars from us in exchange for letting us use their omega daughter to be our surrogate when she graduates from the academy. They could back away from the deal if they paid us back. I spoke to them last night, reminding them of our pact. Do you know how they repaid me? They fucking ran off with their daughter.”

“When did they make the deal?” I ask in a strained voice.

“Three years ago.”

Memories from all those years ago flicker through my mind.

Dad runs a small nut butter processing factory that’s been passed down to him from my great grandfather. Three years ago, some of the machinery got ruined because of one of the technicians. I remember Dad being upset because there were no replacements for the damaged parts. He needed to buy new processing units to keep the factory running.

The investment sum was huge.

I remember Mom and Dad spending sleepless nights worrying over our future. It was around the same time they needed to get Delilah into the omega academy.

Each year's fee at the academy cost more than thirty thousand dollars.

I never gave a thought to how they managed to pull together the funds for Delilah’s school as well as the new machines needed at the factory. Their problem seemed to have been solved overnight because my parents became happy and cheerful again.

Realization slowly dawns on me.

My parents got the money from Solveig Pack in exchange for Delilah...

I stare up at Caleb, Raiden, Damon, and Julian.

Caleb looks the angriest, his dominating aura erasing all words off my tongue.

“I—I’m sorry,” I force myself to say. “I didn’t know anything about this.”
