I jerk awake up to the angry shouts of a stranger. Blinking my eyes open, I stare up at Alistair. “Do I need to fucking kiss you to wake you up?” he shouts.

“That’s gross, you geezer,” I mumble, rubbing my eyes.

“Wake the fuck up!” he spats. “And get to work. I have no patience with princesses.”

I stand up and look around me.

I’m still inside the dusty, cobweb-layered storeroom. Part of me had been desperately wishing it’d all been a nightmare.

“Take this and head to the mess hall,” Alistair orders, thrusting a mop at me. “The bucket and bleach are over there,” he gestures toward a corner. “Start with mopping the floor of the dining hall. You’re also responsible for keeping the tables clean during mess times.”

“Can I go to the bathroom first?”

He suddenly goes quiet. Turning around, he huffs. “Fine. But don’t expect anything fancy here. This place doesn’t cater to women.” With that, he hobbles away.

I stand with the mop, wondering if it was really that necessary to empty my bladder. The thought of entering a male restroom with urinals on the wall has me cringing already.

Fuck.I can’t hold it in any longer.

Dropping the mop, I run out of the door.

“Sorry,” I mutter quickly as my body collides against a random, very confused young man as I search the unfamiliar corridor for a restroom.

Fortunately for my squeezing bladder, I come across a restroom at the end of the hallway.

Pushing the door open, I walk in, and immediately, the room erupts with surprised gasps and curses. A few furtively try to push their cocks back inside their pants while the others don’t know what to do with themselves.

“Where did she come from?”

“You’re not supposed to be here, kid.”

“Get her out of here!”

While the men panic, I locate an empty stall and lock myself in.

It’s utter agony to pee while the men outside demand I get out of there. “Give me one fucking minute,” I bellow.

Pure relief floods me when I’m finally done. Cleaning up, I open the door and step outside.

The men watch me as I move toward a basin to wash my hands. After I’m done, I face them.

“Get used to it,” I say, meeting their curious, confused gazes. “I’m going to be staying here from now on.”

“But, who are you?” one of them asks.

“The new janitor.”

“What’s your name?” asks another.

“Iris.”

“Are you surethisis where you’re supposed to work?”

“Yep. Good day, fellas.” I walk around them and exit the restroom.

I take big gulps of air the moment I step out into the corridor. I was nearly choked up from breathing through my mouth back there.

“That’s one challenge down for the day,” I mutter, going back to the storeroom that was also my bedroom now.
