“Nah. You put them in their fucking place and I’m glad you did. Men like Garcia get too cocky for being picked by our pack and they start behaving all alpha when they’re not one. You saw how he reacted to losing against you. He’s just a fucking beta with a blown-up ego.”

I’m surprised at his strict tone. He’s not protecting Garcia and openly admitting his faults. I’d promised myself to hate Caleb and his pack mates, but it was becoming hard to stay mad at Raiden.

“We need to find a place to hide her,” Julian says thoughtfully. “Caleb can’t know until we tell him.”

“Caleb will know,” Raiden says with a roll of his eyes.

I’m surprised by the change in him.

Raiden singlehandedly dominated the men who’d ganged up on me. His one command had been enough to make them step away.

The man is built like a bulldozer with massive, muscular shoulders. His biceps are thicker than the circumference of my neck.

He looked scary and dominating when he was facing Garcia and his friends, but in front of Julian, he’s mellowed.

I can’t help but stare at him as he smiles at Julian.

Seeing them conspiring to hide me in the mansion sends a blast of warmth through me. Other than Ethan, I never had anyone pay me so much attention.

I think of Delilah. She was probably unaware of the deal Mom and Dad made. If our parents knew how great these men are, would they’ve still run away with her?

Caleb and the others will find Delilah soon, a snide voice warns me.Once they do, they’ll toss you away and forget all about you.

My insides shrivel up at the thought.

I shake myself mentally. I can’t let myself get attached to Julian and Raiden.

They already have an omega and are mated to him.No one wants you, Iris, my mind repeats. Not even your parents.

“Maybe she can help around here?” Julian’s voice breaks through my thoughts. “Why not clean in here? Can you do that, Iris?”

I give a nod. “I can clean and cook. My best friend’s a chef and I work as a waitress in his restaurant.”

Julian claps his hands together, looking excited. “That’s great! I can cook but absolutely hate it.”

“We end up eating whatever’s cooked in the trainee mess,” Raiden says, looking moody. “It’d be nice to have someone cook a proper meal for us once in a while.”

“I can cook for you guys and do chores around the house,” I say. There’s a desperate need inside me to stay closer to these men who make me feel safe.

“How about we make her cook dinner?” Raiden suggests. “If she does a good job, we can slip in that Iris cooked it.” He turns his gaze on me. “Can you make steak and mushroom sauce?”

“Yeah. My family loves the steak I cook for them.”

“That’s one problem solved,” Julian announces with a smile. “Now, we need to think about a place we can hide her.”

“What about the attic?” Raiden suggests. “Caleb will never go looking for her there. The room has heating too.”

“I don’t want her up there,” Julian complains immediately. “It’s dusty.”

“I can clean,” I offer at once. There’s no way I’m being thrown back among the trainees just because of a little dust. “I can stay in any corner.”

A grim look descends into those beautiful violet-hued eyes.

“Julian?” Raiden urges. He’s noticed a change in him too.

“It’s nothing,” says Julian, wiping the shadow off his face. “How about we go up there and check it out? We can order for stuff she needs.” Glancing at me, he adds, “Can you walk?”

I put pressure on my toes and slowly straighten up. My knees hurt. The bruises along my calf also ache as I move my legs but it’s not too bad. I can suck up the pain and make sure I can carve myself a place here.
