I recognize Julian’s voice at once.

Turning around, I see him lifting the lid off the soup pot. Raiden is beside him and peering over his shoulder.

My nose picks up the scent of citrus and chocolate over the smell of cooking soup. I inhale deeply, remembering a delectable dessert Ethan once whipped up with chocolate tarts and orange-honey cream.

My tongue licks the corner of my lips as their scents take over my senses.

“Are you guys hungry?” I ask, trying to mask my reaction. “I can make you some grilled cheese sandwiches.”

“Yum.” Julian glances up at Raiden. “I think we got lucky.”

A radiant smile comes over Raiden’s handsome face as he nods and wraps his arm around his mate’s waist.

I force my head down. Seeing them being so intimate makes me yearn for something I can’t name yet.

I’m surprised at my reaction to them. This isn’t the first time that I’ve come to be in close quarters with alphas or omegas. Yet, I can’t seem to control the way my senses are responding to them.

Thinking back, I never had the time to go after a relationship. All my time and energy were spent on gathering the funds for high school and my taekwondo classes.

Now that I have the opportunity to think about it, I realize I’m a twenty-year-old virgin.Shit!Am I that old already?

“Hey! Iris?” Julian’s suddenly at my side.

“Oh, sorry. I spaced out,” I quickly apologize.

A knowing look comes over Julian. “We were saying we’d love some grilled cheese sandwiches. It’s one of our favorite comfort foods and one of the few things I can cook without my mates crapping all over it.”

Raiden chuckles. “Sometimes, we’re left scraping burnt edges off our sandwiches.”

“They add to the smokiness,” Julian quips.

Raiden laughs harder. He’s like a giant teddy bear when he chuckles freely. “You never wait for the pasta to cook properly either.”

“It’s called ‘al dente’,” Julian says with an exaggerated sigh. “That’s how pasta is cooked traditionally.”

“You mean the Italians like their pasta crunchy?”

Julian slaps his arm. Raiden laughs and ducks as Julian goes to hit him again.

I find my lips curving up in a smile. Dang! I’m turning into a pheromone-hit teen with a massive crush.

Lowering my head, I hurry to the fridge to get the cheese and bread.

I need to stay busy to hide the stupid emotions bubbling inside me.You barely know them, I chide myself.Stop acting like a pheromone-soaked teen in love.

“You even cleaned up after me,” Julian says when he’s settled down at the table. “You’re so thorough.”

“I’m trying to make myself useful,” I say honestly.

“I’m not letting her go back to the trainee dorms,” Julian says in an adamant tone. “Iris is staying here to help me.”

Raiden chuckles. “Hey, I have no problem.” He lifts his hands up. “It’s Caleb that you need to convince.”

I place two cheese-filled sandwiches on the pan that’s been liberally coated with melted butter. Wiping my hands clean, I look toward Raiden.

“What about Damon?” I ask in a small voice. “I hurt him last night. He must hate me too.”

Raiden glances at Julian and they both exchange a meaningful look.
