“Who’s next?” I ask, glaring at the men who think they’ll get away with working for these mean, bitchy omegas.

They come at me together but I’m prepared. My mind knows how they’ll attack me even before they make a move.

I jump into the air and kick, catching the guy in the front. He lets out a pained grumble and stumbles back. The others march in but I manage to punch the second guy.

A third guy grabs me from the back, nearly hauling me off the floor.

One of the omega girls laughs at me. Her trilling chuckle fuels my anger.

I kick my legs, managing to hit one of the men who was closing in. My clumsy but powerful move disbalances the guy holding onto me. He falls to the floor, taking me with him.

The side of my forehead smacks the hardwood floor. Pain flares through the spot but I ignore it. I kick the guy sprawled behind me.

A sharp yelp sounds from my victim. Turning around, I see the man curled up, his thighs pressing together.

“You fucking kicked me in the balls, bitch,” he screams.

I almost apologize to the man weeping and writhing on the floor, but remember that he’s the one who attacked me first. He deserves the pain for colluding with these girls who want to harm my sister.

The other men back away from me, giving me enough space to walk forward. By now, they’re aware I can fight back.

The spot on my forehead throbs. My gaze falls on the two buckets nearby and a sudden idea pops up in my head.

Moving to the side, I kick at the two pails of tar. They’re heavy but they overturn.

“Eww!” the omegas squeal and jump away as thick black goo slowly creeps toward them.

The beaten down men look at them for instruction.

“Why’d you do that?” shrieks the girl in the middle. “You’ve ruined everything!”

“Clean up this mess before I tell someone,” I threaten. “What will happen when the academy hears what you were up to? They’re strict against hazing of any kind. I doubt Mila will ever take the blame. You’ll be the ones to get suspended and thrown out of school.”

Fear chases the fierce indignation on their pretty faces.

“Don’t just stand there!” one of the girls shouts at the hunkering men. “Clean this place up before someone comes in. They’ll be starting the show any second now.”

I chuckle as they stomp their feet and whirl around to walk out of the door.

Sidestepping around the puddles of black goo, I follow the omegas out into the corridor.

“Why are you still following us?” one of them turns around to hiss at me.

I shrug. “Just making sure you don’t cause any more trouble.”

The omegas mutter between themselves. I can’t hear their exact words but I’m sure they’re busy cursing me.

They walk until they’ve reached the other side of the vast auditorium. I keep a watch over them, making sure they’re seated among the audience.

The hall is filling up fast. Excited chatter grows louder, punctuated by deep, growly alpha voices rumbling all around me.

The air is heavy with alpha pheromones. Ugh! The omegas aren’t even on stage yet and they’re already rearing to lay a claim over their favorite.

I take my mask and cover my nose and mouth again. While it’s a grand thing to be chosen as an alpha’s mate, I doubt it’ll ever happen to a lackluster beta like me.

And thank fuck for that, I think, walking down the central aisle, looking for my parents. I’d rather keep practicing my taekwondo than be waltzing in a ball gown.

Singing and dancing are amazing skills but knowing how to fight is so much more useful. While Delilah stayed at the omega academy to perfect her talents, I’ve been busy working my ass off to earn enough to get through college without needing my parents’ help.
