“Oh.” Disappointment washes over me.

“Hey, don’t look like that,” he says quickly. “Didn’t you say you like games? How about we play one now?”

“Shouldn’t I be cleaning around here?”

He waves his hand. “I’ll get someone else to do it.” He grabs my hand in a firm hold. “Come on. Let’s hang out together.”

I chuckle.

I could really get used to this man spoiling me.

Julian’s laughter reaches my ears as I step inside the inner corridors of the mansion. Curious, I come to a stop, and listen.

A female voice joins his.

Surprise flickers through me. Was that the wildcat I caught a few nights ago?

I silently prowl toward the kitchen.

Yep. It’s her.

Iris is sitting at the dining table while Julian hovers over her. She’s wearing a fancy dress and has let her hair down. The brownish locks, flecked with gold, frame her pretty face and tumble past her shoulders.

She looks completely relaxed. A shy smile plays on her luscious lips as Julian fusses over her.

The same hot urge I’d felt the night before surges through me. Whether she’s kicking men’s asses or being submissive to my mate, my reaction toward her remains the same.

Julian shifts his position, completely blocking my view.

What exactly was he doing to her?

Curious, I let my gaze rove all over the kitchen. That’s when I catch the whiff of perfume. I look back toward the table and find makeup products littering the surface.

“Stop fidgeting or I’ll mess up the eyeliner,” Julian says in a commanding tone.

Iris holds herself in a stiff posture.

I guess she’s not a complete savage, I think, licking my bottom lip.

She scratched and kicked the hell out of me but she was a sweet, little kitten with Julian.

A sliver of disappointment wounds around my chest, surprising me.

I miss her fiery, violent persona. There’s a greedy little masochist dwelling inside me that wants her to use her claws on me again.

“Here, take a look,” says Julian, handing her a mirror. “Tell me I’m not a genius.”

He shifts away while Iris peers at the mirror. Her cheeks are a lush pink as she smiles at her reflection.

“You completely changed my look,” she gushes. “I never thought I could look this pretty.”

Julian’s good humor vanishes. “You’re beautiful, Iris,” he says in a grim tone.

Surprise flashes through me again. Did Julian just call a woman beautiful?
