My feet fly over the perfectly manicured grounds. I look straight ahead, solely focused on getting far away from Damon. His intoxicating scent is still wrapped around me, playing havoc with my senses.

I stop only when I suddenly find myself surrounded by trees.

Leaning against a tree trunk, I breathe hard.

As my heartbeats calm down, I realize Damon hasn’t chased after me.

My fingers hover over my lips, too scared to touch the searing skin there. Closing my eyes, I try to forget the feel of his velvety lips on mine, the way his tongue swept all over my mouth, the way his hands felt on my naked skin...

My hands close into tight fists. No matter how hard I try, my core wouldn’t stop throbbing and clenching.

My skin feels soaked with the scent of cedar and burning firewood. Wrapped in Damon’s embrace was like being in the woods with a hot bonfire burning close to you. Warmth and safety wrapped around me, making me forget all sense and logic.

Damon initiated the kiss but I didn’t hold back either. Lost in his embrace, I kissed him back like a hungry omega in heat.

My insides throb harder. “Ugh!” I cry out. “Make it stop!” Whirling around, I fly into the air and kick at the tree trunk.

My toes feel the hard impact but the pain isn’t enough to make me forget about my arousal. “Fuck!” I curse, kicking at the tree again.

I’m going to feel the effect of these hard kicks later but right now, I need a way to get rid of my pent-up frustration.

My thoughts keep going to Julian. How would he react if he hears what I did? Would he forgive me for kissing his mate?

He’s been so good to me. He’s the reason I’ve been able to smile despite the shitstorm my parents unleashed on me.

Guilt spreads through me, steadily dampening the fire that Damon lit inside me.

It’s not like I’ve never been around alphas before.

Ethan was an alpha but I never felt the urge to jump him. What is it about the Solveig Pack that’s making me act like a horny omega?

Breathing hard, I kick at the tree again. Despite my ankle hurting, I keep at it to stop feeling the guilt churning inside me.

“What has that tree done to offend you?” A familiar voice sounds from behind me.

I turn around and find myself facing Raiden.

My heart stutters to a stop and kickstarts at a beat that makes me press a hand over my chest. Dressed in a black camo outfit, Raiden’s dominant posture hits me like a truck.

A breeze blows by, wafting a hint of tangy-sweet citrus my way.

“What’re you doing here?” he asks. His blue eyes scan me from head to foot. Slowly, his expression turns from jovial to grim. “Did someone hurt you again?”

I shake my head. “No.”

His thick eyebrows rise questioningly. “Where’s Julian?”

“He’s back there,” I gesture toward the mansion with a thumb.

“And you’re here kicking the shit out of a tree.”

“I was feeling frustrated,” I say. It’s not exactly a lie.

“How about fighting someone who can kick back?” he asks, his lips curving into a grin.

“What do you mean?”
