“Yeah, right.” He scoffs and walks toward the door.

“Where are you going? We’ll be greeting him together.”

“Nah. I’d rather be with Raiden and Damon.” Turning around, he walks away, leaving me to stare at his perfect ass.

Dad’s not even here yet and I already feel my patience waning.

A white shirt and a pair of navy slacks lie neatly on the bed. Silently thanking Julian for picking them up, I grab the shirt and start getting dressed.

My closely cropped hair doesn’t require much smoothing, so it doesn’t take long for me to get ready.

I’m at the foot of the stairs when I hear Dad’s booming voice floating toward me.

Hurrying my pace, I reach the entrance hall and stand tall while my brothers and Julian usher him in.

“Morning, Dad,” I say the moment his gaze falls on me.

His eyes are the same shade of silver as mine. I’m always envious of his majestic stride. Despite his age, he walks with a strong, straight gait.

“Good to see you too, Son.” Walking further inside the room, he takes his seat on one of the plush chairs.

We settle down on couches around him while his keen gaze roves all over the place.

“Is no one else coming to greet me?” Dad asks. “I heard you’ve got a young woman living here,” Dad explains. “Where is she?”

Nothing escapes this man.

“Caleb sent her upstairs,” Julian tattles.

“Isn’t she well-behaved?” Dad asks.

“Quite the opposite,” Raiden replies. “We’ve appointed her to take care of our meals and she’s doing an amazing job. I mean, we appreciate Julian managing the household, but Iris is a natural.”

Raiden’s a kiss ass, smooching up to both our dad and Julian in one go.

“She used to work at a restaurant before Caleb made me kidnap her,” says Damon.

I stare at my brother. How the hell had I offended him that he’d use the word ‘kidnap’ in front of Dad?

Dad reacts exactly as I expected. His brows rise high as he turns to look at me.

“Her parents left her behind when they fled,” I explain. “I’d be able to get a hold of them when they try to contact her. She’s the only way they’ll make an effort to come back to town.”

Dad’s mouth twists in a disapproving frown.

“I advised you not to go for a surrogate,” he says in a grave tone. “A child needs a mother’s touch to grow up well. There’s no dearth of willing omegas who’d want to be your mate. You should’ve made the effort to choose someone who could become part of your family instead of taking this path.”

The four of us stay silent.

We’d tried to find an omega who could become a part of our family but it was nearly impossible to find one who’d be willing to be the second omega. Almost everyone we spoke to demanded we got rid of Julian, our first mate.

These rejections rubbed Julian the wrong way. It wasn’t long before he became wary of every female omega who got close to us.

Bringing in a surrogate seemed like the best choice for us.

“Forget about the omega,” Dad continues to speak. “What about the younger sister? Does she have the potential to be your mate?”

“Yes.” Three voices rise in unison.
