I nod.
He chuckles, shaking his head. “Julian and Raiden have been watching us.”
“Huh?”
The music is suddenly loud in my ears. I slowly become aware of the bodies moving around us.
I’ve been so wrapped up in Damon, that I completely forgot where we were. We kissed right in front of everyone in this hall.
Fuck!
“You’ve hoarded her for far too long,” a familiar voice speaks up.
Turning that way, I see that Julian is standing right beside us.
“Where’s Raiden?” Damon asks.
“He’s gone to his post,” Julian mutters, looking annoyed. “Shouldn’t you be scouting the premises too?”
Damon frowns. “You can’t wait to get rid of me, can you?”
Julian shrugs a shoulder. “It’s my turn to dance with Iris now. You’ve already had her for three songs.”
“I want more.”
“Caleb won’t be happy if he sees you.”
A growl escapes Damon’s lips. “You’re playing dirty, Jules.”
Julian sticks out his tongue at him. “Everything’s fair in love and war.”
Damon steps away from me and moves closer to Julian. He stands taller and dominates over his omega. Leaning in, he swipes his tongue over Julian’s bottom lip and suddenly bites.
“Oww!” Julian pushes him away.
An evil smirk comes over Damon. He glances at me, winks, and stalks away.
I think about the things Raiden told me about their relationship. There’s a strain there and I can feel it. The passion between them is still alive but something is keeping them apart.
I want to ask Julian but know it’s not my place to interfere.
“Are you okay?” I ask.
Julian looks at me and his expression clears. “Yeah. It’s nothing.”
The band starts playing a livelier tune.
He grabs my hand and pulls me back to the dance floor.
My hands wound around his neck, pulling myself against him. He smiles at me encouragingly as he wraps an arm around my waist.
Dancing with Julian is pure happiness. We go through our practiced routine and move with so much energy, people around us are forced to give us more space.
The next tune is slower, allowing us to catch our breaths.
“You’re an absolute natural,” Julian says.
I glow at his compliment.
