“I was hoping I could show you something. Maybe we could sneak off on one of the trails into the mountain?”

“Yeah, that sounds perfect. I’ll see you then.” He brushed his fingers along mine as he stepped back with a smile. He walked away, and my eyes clapped onto that perfect ass of his. I couldn’t wait to get it naked and in its full glory.

Enduring the rest of my shift was torture. It finally ended, and I all but ran off the property toward the staff cabins. After changing quickly, I checked my phone to confirm he was meeting me. With my guitar case hung over my shoulder, I checked my reflection before heading out to meet him.

This felt so significant, not because if I impressed him with this song, he might be able to use his clout to skyrocket my career. But mainly, I wanted to share everything inside of me in hopes that maybe he felt the same.

Chapter11

Bastian

She metme at the trailhead, wearing a pair of cut-off jeans and a white tank top. Her hair was pulled into a high ponytail but what surprised me the most was the guitar slung over her shoulder, strapped to her back.

I grinned as I leaned in to kiss her. “You planning on serenading me on top of a mountain?” She laughed, her fingers curling tighter into my waist, digging into the dips of my hips as she held herself flush against me.

“Maybe. Would it work?”

“Baby, you could be in a garbage bag, covered in mud, reciting the dictionary, and I would be turned on as fuck for you.”

She laughed and threw her head back. The gesture elongated her throat and made me unable to resist leaning in and nibbling the skin there. I pressed our hips harder together as I ground myself into her, letting her know exactly how she made me feel.

Half-mast in tight jeans, my cock throbbed to get out, pressing against the denim as if it wished to be able to rip through the seams.

She grinned more. “Let’s do what I have planned, and then we’ll see where the evening takes us.” She reluctantly stepped back, reaching out to grasp my hand as she turned toward the trail and made her way up it.

We walked for a bit, following the trail markers as they guided us left and right and up until we reached a fork. One followed a seemingly legit pathway. The other looked like a path trampled by the feet that passed through it, no longer following the way. It wasn’t long until this trail led us into a small grove amongst the trees. A fire pit had been erected in the middle, and somebody had hauled fallen logs, placing them around as seating.

But that wasn’t what I noticed most. It was the fact that Bexley had been here first. There was a collection of firewood waiting for us at the fire pit, a blanket, and a cooler with what I expected to be food and drink.

“This is all well thought out.” I grinned as I glanced at her.

She shrugged her shoulders. “I’ve been thinking about it all afternoon. I asked friends to bring some things for me since I had to work late today.”

“Good friends,” I mused as I dragged her over to the blanket, sitting first before pulling her onto my lap. “You told me I had to wait. I’m not waiting any longer.” I grinned as I leaned in, kissing my way up her neck to below her ear. Her body shivered as I touched the spot there, licking it first before giving it a gentle nip.

She moaned softly as her hands splayed against my chest, pushing herself away slowly. “Yes, but I still have one more thing I want to show you. Let’s get the fire going first.”

I heaved a dramatic sigh and then flashed her a playful grin, lifting her off my lap again before settling her on the blanket.

“I’ll handle the fire. What is it that you want to show me?” I walked over to the fire pit, grabbed the logs, stacked them into a little house, and shoved some kindling and papers the other staffers had brought up for her. Grabbing the lighter and trying to get the whole thing going, I glanced at her, and she had pulled the guitar out. I smiled once more, a gesture seemingly becoming permanent at this point whenever I was around Bexley.

“Do I get a personal concert?” She strummed a chord—an A, and I couldn’t help but think she was grading me for my question.

“I wrote a song for you,” she finally said, and even in the dying sunlight and the flicker of the flames, I noticed the blush on her cheeks.

“I can’t wait to hear it,” I said honestly, looking back at the fire once more to play with it and ease it into a bigger burn.

She strummed another cord while I was distracted, singing in a soft and melodic voice at first.

“... Won’t try to blink, cos I cannot miss it.

Got my eyes wide open, and they’re all for you.

Only you, baby, only you …”

As she sang, I walked over to her slowly until I sat next to her, watching her every move. If she was nervous, it didn’t show. But then again, her eyes were closed as she sang, lost in the words, melody, and meaning.

She finished the last strum and eased her eyes open as she turned to look at me. Her chest wasn’t moving as she held her breath, and she let it out when she couldn’t hold it inside her anymore.
