More likes flooded into my notifications. Sunbeam34 and Holywater continued to tag each other back and forth, as if they knew each other in real life. I scrolled through the notifications to make sure I didn’t miss any comments. And then …

SkateboardingPunk: fuck.

Warmth spread through my chest, butterflies fluttering in my stomach. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes. This wasn’t just anyone. It was Blaise Harleen, my … guy. He didn’t need to tell me for me to know it was him.

Nobody else named SkateboardingPunk would’ve been reading this kind of smut.

More notifications popped up on the screen at the end of the chapter.

Sunbeam34: I need another chapter tonight.

Sunbeam34: That was so good.

Sunbeam34: brb, going to change my pants.

I pulled the blankets over my mouth and snickered into them to stifle my laugh, so I wouldn’t wake Mom or Mateo. Just as I was about to shut off my phone for the night, another comment popped up.

SkateboardingPunk: @Sunbeam34 same.

Something about that boy … God, he did something to me. Something only my characters had felt before. Something I never wanted to lose.

ChapterForty-Nine

BLAISE

When the bell rang throughout Redwood’s halls the next day, I stood up from my seat in English class and tossed my backpack over my shoulder. Usually at this time, Skylar, the school’s most annoying slut, would be dragging me to the cafeteria.

But I walked out of class without her filthy hands all over me.

She must’ve been sick, or maybe she had begged one of the jocks on the football team to come inside her too often and accidentally gotten herself pregnant. I stifled a laugh. Shit, that actually sounded like something she’d do, then try to hide it from all of Redwood by faking beingsick.

At least I didn’t have to worry about her fucking up my life with Vera.

I walked down the hall, passed Callan Avery, who leaned against a locker outside his classroom, texting—probably his little toy—on his phone. He definitely didn’t smile like that around my dad’s sister.

“Blaise!” he called.

Not wanting to talk to him right now, I continued down the hallway.

“Blaise!” he shouted, louder this time.

Man, this guy didn’t know when to fucking stop.

I gritted my teeth and turned around to face him. “What?”

After he glanced around for anyone lurking in the hallways, he nodded to his classroom. I rolled my eyes and followed him inside, slouching down at a desk. If I had it my way, I would be in the cafeteria right now with Vera, but I at least had some respect for Callan.Some.

More than any other shitty teacher here.

“What?” I asked with annoyance. “Aren’t you having Sakura Sato for lunch? Don’t want to miss getting in one of your student’s pants, huh? Make this quick.”

Avery locked the door—which meant that this was serious—and clenched his jaw. “I’m not going to entertain you with my love life, Blaise. I doubt you really care for it anyway, seeing as you hate your father’s side of the family as much as I do.”

Pissed, I rolled my eyes. “Then, what do you want me for?”

Callan walked to his desk, placed his hands on it, and leaned forward, staring me down. “Where the fuck were you last night?”

“Out.”
