Getting into my car, I drive away, looking in my rearview mirror to make sure Mike isn’t following me. I pull into my driveway and lean my head on the steering wheel before heading inside.

Knowing Tobias is sleeping. I head right to the kitchen and kick my heels off, grabbing the bottle of wine from the counter and bringing it to my lips.

“Date go that bad?”

I turn to see Cody smirking in the doorway.

“You have no idea. Probably one of the worst dates I’ve ever been on. Didn’t even get to order a damn drink.”

He chuckles. “Damn.” Cody walks closer to me, taking the bottle from my hands and taking a sip himself. “Maybe that’s how it was supposed to go.”

“Rude.”

Cody grins, leaning down. “Maybe the universe had bigger plans for you.”

I can feel my cheeks reddening as he gets closer. “Yeah? And what could that be, Cody?”

He leans down to whisper in my ear. His stubble tickling my skin and sending goosebumps across my body. Cody’s Irish brogue is more prominent as his hands run up my arms.

“Maybe,Juniper. You were supposed to have a terrible date with that sorry excuse for a man. All so you could come home and let areal manshow you how you should be treated.”

Cody’s lips meet mine and it’s like fireworks on the fourth of damn July. He lifts me onto the counter, my legs spreading so he can stand between them.

“June…”

He bites down on my bottom lip, his tongue slipping past them as his hands roam down my body. Cody snakes his hands up my dress, his hands grabbing my breasts.

This is… unexpected. Cody? Me? What is happening in my world?

But when Cody’s lips find that sensitive spot on my collarbone, all thoughts are lost. My body melts into him, and I’m completely and utterly lost.

“Bedroom. Upstairs. Now.”

He nods, wrapping his arm around my waist. Cody lifts me, pulling my legs tight around him as his lips slam back onto mine.

We stumble down the hall, stopping as Cody pushes me against the wall, his beard rubbing against my neck as I lift my dress up.

He rips it out of my hands, throwing it to the floor as his chin pushes my bra aside and his lips find my aching nipples.

We both giggle as my head slams against the wall. Cody shushes me, his lips cover mine as his hands wrap in my hair.

“Second door on the left.”

Cody nods and walks toward it. We finally reach my bedroom door and he pushes it open, walking me back to my bed. I sit down, gazing up at him.

“Show me, Cody. Show me how areal manwould treat me tonight.”

Cody nods, turning to shut and lock my bedroom door before turning back to me. His hungry gaze sends shivers down my spine as he stalks over to me. Cody gently pushes me to lie down as he towers above me.

“You’re all mine tonight, Juniper.”
