“What?”

“Give me your key fob.”

Seraphina’s eyes scrunched. “Why?”

“I’m going to open your door for you.”

“I can do it.”

“I know you can. I’ll do it anyway.”

“Look, this—”

“I’m helping you find your sister, right?”

“Yes.”

“Which means I can interrupt you whenever you try to stop me from doing things like opening your door, and you won’t argue with me.” I waited while she dug out her fob, then held out my hand.

“Good night, Seraphina,” I said, giving it back once she was in her car. “Oh, and text me your address.”

“You don’t already know it?”

“It sounds less creepy if I ask for it anyway.”

“I’ll send you my mom’s address since that’s where I’m staying for the time being.”

I closed her door and waited for her to pull out before I left as well.

It would take me twenty minutes to get to the wine caves and another ten to reach the room where Los Caballeros met. Chances were I wouldn’t be the first to arrive.

When I entered the room,I saw I was actually last. Two seats at the table were empty—Brix’s and Tryst’s.

Trystan Avila, Brix’s uncle, who was currently seated in the chair I usually occupied, had been Los Caballeros’ leader until he stepped down when his wife became ill. Brix had taken his place.

I pointed to the seat reserved for Brix. “Please,” I said to Tryst.

He shook his head. “You will lead us tonight, Ridge. Sit in the appropriate chair.”

I met the eyes of every man in the room, who nodded before I took my seat. It was the same thing Brix did at the start of every meeting, like Tryst had before him.

“I’ve asked you to meet me here tonight because someone needs our help. Seraphina Reeve’s younger sister, Luisa, is missing, and I’ve offered our assistance in finding her.”

Unlike when I’d asked Seraphina several questions to confirm her sister was, in fact, missing, those in the room waited for me to proceed.

“She was last seen four days ago.” I continued to tell them everything I’d learned in the last ninety minutes. “Any questions?” I asked when I reached the end of what I knew.

“You said Ms. Reeve only knows her sister’s boyfriend’s first name,” said Lavery “Press” Barrett, who was seated on Tryst’s right and the most “formal speaker” of our members. He was an American but had spent the majority of his youth in England and had acquired an accent I doubted he’d ever let go of.

“Correct.”

“Would it be possible for us to obtain a photograph of both him and the missing sister?”

“I’ll see what I can find. She said they haven’t been together long.” I looked around the room when Press didn’t say more.

“I’ll start tracking her cell phone,” said Beau, Press’ younger brother, who was also fond of his own British accent.

Tryst was brushing his lip with his little finger. “Do you have a question?” I asked.
