Alex raised a brow. “Vader said something about her hating it when people call her Sera. Maybe that’s why she’s avoiding you.”
“I call her Sera; she calls me Noah.”
I looked up at Alex when she didn’t say anything for longer than she usually went without talking.
“You’re in love with her, aren’t you?”
I shrugged and stood. “Quasimodo isn’t going to saddle himself.”
“You sure named him right. That’s the butt-ugliest horse I’ve ever seen.”
“Hey, now. Be nice. Besides, you can get in big trouble with the cancel culture for not being sensitive to my horse’s appearance.”
“You are so full of shit. You don’t even know what cancel culture is. By the way, it’s a thing, not an it.”
“Whatever. See ya, Alex.”
She walked over and scratched Quasi between his ears. “Give me a hug before I go, Noah.”
I shook my head and held my arms open. “Only Sera gets to call me Noah.”
“And your mom.”
