Not that he would admit it to her.

He tried it. “It’s alright.” He smirked before passing it back to her.

“You just don’t want to admit mine is better.” She sipped his chocolate one, nodded, then moved it back in front of him.

Her phone buzzed next to her, and she picked it up. “It’s the airline.” She moved it to her face. “Hello?”

He couldn’t hear what they were saying, but judging by the smile on her face and the way her shoulders relaxed, they found her suitcase.

“Thank you and yes, that will be perfect.” She hung up and put the phone back down before looking up at him. “They found my suitcase and someone is dropping it off at the hotel. So when we get back, I just need to stop by the front desk to retrieve it.”

“That’s great.” He was relieved, since they wouldn’t have to go shopping. “Is there anything else we need to do today?”

Tabitha shook her head. “No. The others should be arriving tomorrow if they're not already here. I like to just hide in the hotel room, usually before the chaos begins. Tomorrow we’ll have a busy day, plus the premiere. There’s a meet and greet brunch where I’ll be in costume, as well as the others. You met Max when you first arrived at my place. Him and his boyfriend will be there and they’re always amazing. There will probably be a few others, but I’m not sure who all was invited yet beyond them.” She smiled.

“How did you get into this cosplay stuff? I remember you reading the comics when we were younger, but I never realized how much you loved it.”

She paused as the waiter dropped off their burgers and fries, then refilled their waters. “I was scrolling through social media and saw an advertisement for Halloween costumes. Then that led to even better sources of costumes and materials to make costumes. I think I was glued to my phone as I started to think of the ideas. Then I started following others that were doing what I wanted to do and it just grew from there.”

“So you don’t make all your costumes?”

She shook her head. “I probably make half of my stuff. It all depends on if it’s something I’m wanting to do just for me or something I want to do for someone else. Like companies that come out with new material for costumes.” She smiled. “Or this weekend, with the premiere. Someone in their costume department made replicates for us. So we’ll do pictures and videos of stuff tomorrow and then continue to share them over the next few days.”

“Do you get to take the costumes home?”

Tabitha’s eyes grew. “Oh yeah! I love that part, then I can look back on those outfits with fun memories and make more content. Plus, when we decide to get together for fun, we’ll plan out outfits to really work together and reach more.”

“It sounds like you love doing this.”

“I never would’ve thought I could live doing something like this. I mean, I always liked being crafty, but this really lets me grow creatively. I’ve met wonderful people and got to travel.”

It was the first time he’d seen her smile this big since he’d arrived. Archie felt bad that he hadn’t thought to ask her about it all before. Especially since it was something she clearly loved and enjoyed.

CHAPTER13

TABITHA

This was the best bed Tabitha had ever laid in. The mattress had just enough give that she could relax into it without fear of being stuck in a cloud. The sheets were smooth and cool against her heated skin post shower. She ignored the sound of the shower being turned off in the next room and snuggled further into the bedding that promised to wrap her up safely.

A chuckle had her turning around to see Archie emerge from the bathroom with shorts hung low on his hips as he rubbed a towel across his hair. “Do you still cocoon yourself? Because we need to share these blankets.”

Her mouth went dry as her eyes roamed across his muscular chest and arms. She found herself wanting to be wrapped in. “Ha! Ha!” She rolled her eyes. “Do you still need the tv on to sleep?”

He smirked, then turned to hang up the towel before crawling in bed next to her. “I like it dark when I sleep. A little white noise from the air conditioner or fans is all I like.”

“Perfect.” She reached over to turn her little fan on and the lamp off.

Even in a kingsize bed, she could feel the heat from his body next to hers as she settled back into her spot. The right side of her body felt on fire as her chest grew tight and she struggled to keep her breathing even.

“You okay?” His whisper felt like it was directly next to her ear.

Her eyes adjusted to the dark around them, but she could barely make out his figure next to her.

“Yeah.” She relaxed before feeling his leg next to hers.

“Let me know if you need more room.” His voice strained.

“Okay.”
