His lips moved down and across her jaw. She arched into his touch, her head going back, and he moved his mouth down her neck. He sucked hard, guaranteeing his mark was left behind.

“Is this really happening?” Her hands moved to his shoulder as he continued kissing her down her chest.

His lips pulled on her pert nipple through the shirt, and she gasped. His hand moved to her other breast and fondled before giving it a squeeze, then switching to the other one. His hand slowly ran down her middle before stopping at the apex of her thighs. He cupped her through her thin pajama shorts.

“You’re mine, Tabitha.” She was fucking soaked. “Wet for me, baby?”

“Uh, huh.” She gasped as his fingers moved against the wet fabric.

His cock hardened at the thought of plunging into her, but he also didn’t want to rush things. He wanted to make sure she knew he wasn’t going anywhere. They weren’t just friends anymore.

They were so much more.

His focus remained on her. Kissing her and bringing her closer and closer to the edge as his hand remained on the outside of those little shorts. His finger nudged in slowly, the fabric causing more friction as she cried out his name.

CHAPTER19

TABITHA

It had to have been a dream. A wet one. Even now, she didn’t feel alert or completely there. It was throwing her off because it was the only thing she could think about. Her chest tightened as she replayed it in her head over and over again. Did last night really happen?

Not possible.

They were just friends.

Maybe in another life, things would be different. In another timeline, her life wouldn’t be this chaotic and messy. It had to have been the alcohol and those comforting feelings. She knew Archie wouldn’t see her in that way. He never had.

They were just friends.

Less than that.

It had been years since they were close. They were practically strangers. She knew they knew each other, but that was the past. Experiences changed people, they didn’t know who the other one was anymore. It was beyond likes and dislikes; it was personality and dreams.

She always wondered what it would be like to be kissed by Archie Stryker. It was everything and more, but it couldn’t happen again. She couldn’t dwell on the memory of last night or the feelings she had growing up. His friendship meant too much, if they could even get back to that point.

Had too much time passed, allowing the gravity to weaken and push them into separate orbits. Further and further away without so much as a look back. Nobody told them when you’re younger that time goes on, people move on. Life keeps going. The times where they knew everything about one another had gone. Memories of being able to communicate with just a look were like folklore.

Last night couldn’t happen again. Archie didn’t do relationships that lasted. Tabitha couldn’t handle the heartbreak that would inevitably come if she allowed herself to hope. Those feelings that resurfaced had to remain a secret once again. Losing Archie would break her.

Fourteen YearsEarlier - Age 18

Everyone was staring, not that she blamed them. She was doing her best not to stare wide-eyed too. It was the same every few months. Archie would get interested in a girl, hook up, then dump them before a month had passed. He wasn’t the relationship type. Beth had been yelling at him since they arrived at the post graduation party.

Tabitha grabbed a soda from the counter and walked outside. She didn’t feel like listening to it. Archie would no doubt fill her and the others in later. Beth had to know it wouldn’t be serious. They would all be starting their futures over the next couple of months. Most of them chose more education. Others, like Archie, joined the military.

Beth reminded her of the others that came and went. They thought because they were dating Archie, if it could even be called that, that they were instant friends with the rest of his friends. Unfortunately for Tabitha, that included her. She was thankful to not have to witness another forced smile for a while.

“That was brutal.” James stepped outside behind her.

“Huh?” She turned as she popped the tab on her soda.

“She slapped him.” He laughed.

Not the first time he’d been slapped by a girl who thought they would be the one. Tabitha didn’t think Archie would ever settle down. He wanted adventure in his life more than stability. That’s why it surprised her when he told her he was joining the military last fall. She thought it was a joke and laughed. He was literally going to not be in control of things for years.

It had to be safer than joining the Heathens MC. Tabitha shook her head at James before glancing back at the open sliding door. Both of them would be joining. James’s dad told him he had to wait until tomorrow. James actually thought he could wear the vest over his graduation gown.

“Tab?”
