How could he?
He left us.
My mind was spinning. My heart was shattered. I was numb, yet every inch of my body ached, the pain of losing him lancing through me, ripping my heart out and shredding my soul.
He hadn’t said goodbye. He’d walked away without a backwards glance. Gathered his things and left.
I’d watched from my spot at the table as Jono drove the ute away, taking Craig onto his new life. A life where we weren’t with him. I’d never contemplated losing him like that. I’d never imagined there would be a day I’d wake up and he wouldn’t be right there with Sam. That he’d choose to walk away.
I’d been dead wrong about the kind of man Craig was.
