“I dunno.” He shrugged. “I was tired—this semester was brutal—but I’m good now.”

He eyed him closely, not believing Phoenix for a moment, but he let it go. “Okay,” he conceded. Phoenix knew he had questions, and Trav wouldn’t hold off asking them forever, but his mate wanted to party too. Priorities and all that.

They continued on, reaching the windows of a swanky restaurant. Inside, the lighting was dim, tables with white linen tablecloths that reached the floor, gleaming silverware and crystal glasses. Before his eyes, a woman in a charcoal suit with her blonde hair in a tight bun stepped onto the path. She was surrounded by men in suits—the proverbial rose among thorns. But one of the men stood out. Black suit, his own blond hair pulled back in a bun. Phoenix sucked in a breath, his steps stuttering to a halt as the woman looked around, her gaze locking on his. Her red lips turned up in a sultry smile, and Phoenix flushed, heat zinging through his veins to sizzle his nerve endings. Cassidy. The woman triggered an awareness in him like no other person had ever done. Except for one. The man standing right next to her. Jacob.

“Damn.” Trav whistled low. “Even I can appreciate that they’re hot.”

“Keep your hands to yourself,” Phoenix shot back, his hackles rising. He wasn’t one of those protective alpha jealous types, but he wanted to be when around them.

Trav chuckled. “I thought I recognized them. They’re the same two who took you home before exams.” Phoenix opened his mouth to question his friend on what the hell he was talking about when Jacob turned and noticed him too. “I thought for sure I wouldn’t see you until late the next day, but there you were, tucked into bed like a good boy when I got home.”

“They took me home?” Phoenix whispered to him, his tone filled with horror.

“Yeah, mate. At least I assume they did. We left a couple of hours after you did, and you were already fast asleep when I got there.”

“Fuuuuck,” he breathed. Cassidy and Jacob were already walking toward them, wide smiles on their faces. “Hey, you guys.”

“Are you out partying or commiserating?” Jacob asked, his brow furrowed as he looked at Phoenix.

“Definitely celebrating,” Trav explained when Phoenix couldn’t tear his gaze away from Jacob’s lips. He’d tasted them? For real? He trembled, wanting to reach out and pull the man to him. Or Cassidy. Fuck. He swallowed, remembering how he’d touched himself. Was that real too? Jacob dropped his gaze down Phoenix’s body and licked his lips.Fuuuuck. It was real. He shot his gaze to Cassidy, an apology on his lips, but she wasn’t looking at him. No, she was focussed on her boyfriend, giving him an indulgent smile.

Open relationship. Complications he didn’t need.

Phoenix took a step back, trying to put some distance between them. When had they shifted so close? Trav clamped his hand on Phoenix’s shoulder, and he turned, finding him grinning. “You should come with us. We’re on our way to Ember.” Phoenix shot him a look, but Trav’s smile only widened, a cheeky twinkle in his eye. The bastard knew exactly what he was doing.

Jacob looked to Cassidy, clearly leaving the decision to her. “I’m not really dressed to go dancing, but if you don’t mind me hanging around in my work clothes, we’d love to come.”

“Sorry, what was your name?” Trav asked in that professional phone voice he put on, holding his hand out to shake. Cassidy introduced them, both shaking hands with Trav, and Phoenix ground his teeth, glaring at his so-called friend. Trav laughed. “Well, Cassidy, there’s nothing hotter than a woman in a power suit.” He wiggled his eyebrows at her, and Phoenix stood taller, a growl of possession sounding in the back of his throat. He knew he was staking his claim—over both of them, not just Cassidy. He knew it was primitive and ridiculous, but he couldn’t help it. They were his, and Trav was not going to charm himself into Cassidy’s bed.

“Okay, arse kisser. That’s enough.” He steered Trav to the side and inserted himself between his overly flirtatious friend and his couple. Yes, his. He liked the sound of that.

Cassidy and Jacob both checked their jackets at the club, and when Phoenix got a good look at the couple, he salivated. With her hair pulled back, it left the long line of her neck to the thin straps of the silk camisole open for his lips to caress the creamy skin there. Her breasts, those handfuls of perfection, almost distracted him from the lusciousness of her butt framed by the high waistline and form-fitting skirt. The heels she wore only highlighted how gorgeous her legs were, and they reminded him of the red ones he wished had been propped on his shoulders. Phoenix shivered and blinked, willing his cock to behave. He tore his gaze away from her, only to land on her boyfriend, whose rear end rivalled hers for biteability.

Trav snorted out a laugh and clapped him on the shoulder. “You have it bad. When they want to leave, don’t stick around because of me.” Phoenix looked at him, about to protest, but Trav shook his head and shoved him forward.

The club was dark except for disco balls reflecting the coloured spotlights turning in random patterns over the dance floor. A bar lined one end, and at the back of the room on a raised platform, red velvet ropes cordoned off the VIP area. Trav headed straight to the bar, but when Phoenix moved to follow, Cassidy grasped his wrist and led both him and Jacob to the dance floor. He didn’t know how she did it, but within seconds, she had him wrapped around her back, and Jacob pressed to her front. She rested her head back on his shoulder and lifted her arm around his nape, holding him in place. But she need not have worried. Phoenix didn’t want to be anywhere else but pressed against this woman.

Jacob ran his fingertips along the rolled-up sleeves of his button-down shirt, then over his forearms, sending shivers through Phoenix. His semi stirred again, thickening in the tight confines of his ripped jeans until he was hard and pressed against the curvaceous goodness of Cassidy’s arse. He felt rather than heard the purr in the back of her throat, but Jacob must have seen something. He drew them in, one hand slipping into Phoenix’s jeans pocket and the other moving to Cassidy’s hip. He leaned in and pressed a kiss to Cassidy’s lips before teasing her mouth open with the tip of his tongue. The view Phoenix had was unparalleled, and he watched as their tongues tangled. He splayed his hands on Cassidy’s ribs and ran his nose along the shell of her ear, breathing in the scent he couldn’t get enough of. Sucking her lobe into his mouth, he bit down gently and hummed when gooseflesh broke out over her skin. Phoenix licked his way down her throat, kissing and tasting the soft skin there as he inched his hands up. When Jacob’s hand landed on his, Phoenix froze, but the other man wasn’t having it. He shifted Phoenix’s hand until it rested over Cassidy’s breast and squeezed the hand he still had pressed in Phoenix’s pocket, grabbing his butt and pulling him tighter against Cassidy.

She whimpered, and Jacob growled in approval. “Feel how much we want you?” he asked. “Is he hard, Cass?” Cassidy nodded frantically, and Jacob’s eyes locked on his. They wavered closer until their lips were a hair’s breadth away.

“Please,” she begged. “I want to watch you again.” Her words kicked Phoenix into action, and he closed the distance to the man he’d wanted from the moment he’d set eyes on him. Their lips crashed together in a frantic kiss. Teeth clashed, and their tongues parried, licking away the sting. Jacob tasted of chocolate and something rich—Bourbon, maybe—and Phoenix couldn’t get enough. He cupped Cassidy’s breasts, flicking his thumbs over the hardened peaks of her nipples, and ground against her arse as he kissed her boyfriend. Fuck avoiding complications. He wanted this so bad.

Jacob broke away panting and rested his forehead against Cassidy’s.

“It wasn’t a dream, was it? Trav said you took me home. You kissed me, didn’t you?”

“You kissed him,” Cassidy murmured. “We both wanted you, but you were drunk.”

Jacob slid his hand up to cup her throat, and Cassidy turned to Phoenix. “I want you too,” he uttered as his lips found hers. Where Jacob’s kiss was wild passion, hers was a smoulder, slow and deep until she’d explored his mouth and had his toes curling in his white skate shoes. She was half his size but clearly had control.

“You’re beautiful together,” Jacob murmured, kissing a line up Cassidy’s throat before swapping to Phoenix and pushing his collar out of the way. “Want to see you both naked. Watch you bury yourself in our woman.”

Phoenix groaned. That word.Our.It lit a fire in him. Made him want things that he’d thought were impossible. He’d dreamed night after night that he could have them, but he’d written it off as an impossibility. Now, that word was giving him hope. And a raging boner. Jacob gently bit down on the tendon in his throat, sucking on Phoenix’s skin, no doubt leaving a mark. Phoenix revelled in the possession. His breath stuttered and his cock pulsed in his jeans. “Keep talking like that, and I’ll come all over myself.”

“You have no idea how much we wanted to lick it off you,” Cassie murmured. “You were so bold, letting us watch you wrap your hand around your cock and making yourself come.”

Phoenix closed his eyes, his psyche fighting the confusion between being blindingly aroused and mortified. Arousal won out, and Phoenix thrust against Cassidy’s arse, grinding his aching erection against her curves.
