After a lazy afternoon napping in one another’s arms, watching bad daytime TV movies, and laughing more than he could ever remember, Liam’s phone chimed. Bryce, Ava, and Cole were there and they had dinner with them. He scooted out from behind Addy on the couch and met them in the lobby. Inexplicably, nerves churned in his belly. Liam didn’t know whether it was introducing King to his old friend or knowing that he needed to hold himself back from touching the two people he’d been all over a few minutes earlier. But as soon as the six of them were in the same space, his shoulders unknotted, and he breathed easy. Bryce had always been a great guy, and his friend and girlfriend seemed like good people too.

Except that Liam wasn’t so sure Bryce and Cole were just friends. There was something about them, an easy friendship but also a familiarity that he sensed between them. Ava and Cole were the same, and the adoration in Cole’s eyes when he looked at her was unmistakeable.

Unthinkingly, Liam rested his chin on King’s shoulder while he snagged a spring roll off his plate. King laughed and swatted his hand away. Grinning, ridiculously happy to have this moment with his partners, Liam shifted closer, about to brush a kiss to his cheek when King stiffened. Wide-eyed, he cleared his throat and Liam’s gut clenched, his world tilting. Logically, he knew King wasn’t embarrassed by him. But the way he pulled away sliced him open. Liam swallowed. He was nothing if not a professional at hiding the hurt people inflicted on him.

“Liam,” King whispered, before gripping his wrist. “Excuse us for a moment,” he added, tugging Liam out of the room.

“It’s okay,” Liam assured him when they were in the privacy of the bedroom they’d shared.

“No, don’t do that. You saw how much Adds was hurting because she didn’t talk to us. I don’t want any more misunderstandings. I moved not because I didn’t want you to kiss me, but because I don’t know if we can trust the others yet. I’m trying to protect you.”

“You were?” Liam asked, the wound he’d been nursing getting stitched up. King gripped his nape and pressed their foreheads together.

“There won’t ever be a day I don’t want to kiss you.” He pressed their lips together, his tongue licking along the seam of Liam’s mouth. He opened to King, groaning as King pushed him against the door, aligned their bodies, and owned him in a fierce kiss.

Their return to the lounge heralded all eyes on them. His dopey grin slipped, and Liam stiffened, asking, “What?”

“Is it just the two of you who’re together, or all three of you?” Bryce asked.

He swallowed, his gaze bouncing between the four people waiting for him. King’s heat at his back lessened, his man stepping back and putting some distance between them. “What makes you ask that?” Liam hedged, his heart pounding in his chest. He thought he could trust Bryce, but the reality of doing so terrified him.

“The love-heart eyes you three have been making at one another all night has been a dead giveaway,” Cole said blandly. “But the pash rash on your face makes it a no-brainer.” Liam automatically raised his hands to his cheeks, and Bryce laughed, getting up from his spot on the couch.

“Like the ones you two were flashing each other in the coffee shop?” Addy asked, hand on her hip and her eyebrow raised.

“They were?” Liam snapped his gaze to his girl and then back to Cole and Bryce. He’d noticed something that evening, but not before. “You were?”

“Probably, but hiding sucks and I can’t lie to save myself, so...” Bryce shrugged like it was no big deal and clapped Liam on the shoulder with a wide grin. The man truly did remind him of a bouncy puppy dog. “You look happy, man. Regardless of who you’re with, we’re happy for you.”

“Hiding what?” Liam asked, before he blinked, Bryce’s other words finally sinking in. Bryce laughed, his blue eyes sparkling in the dim light.

“The three of us are together,” Bryce responded, slinging an arm around Liam’s shoulders and nodding in the direction of his partners. “So, it’s all good. If you and King are together, you won’t get any judgement from us. We’re stuck hiding too. We call Cole our flatmate, but he’s not. I love him just as much as Ava.”

“It’s not just me and King,” Liam rushed out, grateful he could share his sexuality with someone who would understand exactly what he was going through. He had Lij and King and although both identified as bi not pan, they understood same-sex relationship dynamics. But the added pressure of being a semi-public figure was something they couldn’t understand. Bryce could. “Addy, King, and I are together. We’re only new, but we’re together.”

“Just be careful who you’re open with. Ava quit her job because of the rumours around our relationship, and Cole and I always have to be careful. We can’t risk it getting out to the press, especially not in my rookie year. Can you imagine the media shitstorm?”

“How long?” Liam asked, sliding into the chair beside him. He’d been carrying around his secret for months, and although everything had finally come out in the open the night before, another person knowing was like a weight lifting off his shoulders. But Bryce, Cole, and Ava seemed to be pretty well practiced at maintaining a façade of friendship between them.

“A year in a few days time.” Bryce returned to his spot on the couch and pressed a kiss to Cole’s temple. The other man leaned in, wrapping his arm around his boyfriend while he reached for Ava’s hand. It was a simple moment, one filled with intimacy, and Liam’s heart ached for Cole. He’d first seen him as quiet and stoic, but Liam suspected that being kept a secret from the world weighed on him.

He would likely play the role of tag-along friend to King and Addy for the foreseeable future. Perpetually single to the outside world, he’d only ever be able to acknowledge his lovers in private. Liam looked between them, their eyes filling with concern. But they didn’t need to be worried. As shitty as it would be for the world to never know how much they meant to him, he realized that it didn’t matter.

Being with them was enough.

Addy reached for him, and he pulled her onto his lap, pressing a lingering kiss to her lips. She smiled against his mouth and he kissed her again, both of them leaning into their man when King slipped his arm around Liam’s shoulders.

“But you’ve made it work. You’re happy.” Liam looked to Bryce for confirmation and grinned when Cole nodded, lacing his fingers with Bryce’s.

“We’ve made it work. There have been a few rocky parts, but we’ve never doubted each other,” Ava supplied.

Soft fingertips traced down his side and his cock flexed, thickening with the teasing touch. He hummed, and shifted, rolling his hips so those strong hands had room enough to continue their exploration. Addy shifted then, peeling herself away from him. He missed her warmth immediately, the cool air from the vent chilly on his skin.

“You cold?” he mumbled to King as the other man pressed himself against Liam’s body. He moaned, needing to feel the man’s weight. He hitched his leg up, wrapping it around King’s hip, encouraging him to press him into the mattress. King obliged with a groan of satisfaction, and when their hard cocks lined up, sliding together, Liam almost rocketed to heaven. “Oh Jesus,” he gasped as King ground down, bucking his hips forward and dragging his thick length against Liam’s. “Fuck, do that again.”

Spreading his knees, so Liam’s legs were pressed open as wide as they’d go, he was entirely at King’s mercy. His man took every advantage, licking his hand and closing his fist around both their shafts, using spit and pre-cum to lube his way. Liam arched up off the bed, digging his heels into King’s arse as he bucked, chasing the high that he’d had no idea he would crave.
