“Sleep is overrated, anyway.”

“Sleep?” He questions, tilting his head. I slide myself on, watching his face tense in delight. “You’ll be the death of me, Miss Edwards.”

“Exactly my words,” I say with a sly smile, gently rocking back and forth at a teasing pace. “Are you ready for me again?”

He places his arm behind his head with eyes full of lust. “Ride me, cowgirl.”

“Where the party at, bruh!”

Rocky’s grand entrance is not without the usual chaos he brings when he knows the night will end up with him drunk and in an argument with Nikki.

He drops his hands from the air, spinning around in a burgundy-purple velvet suit with leather lapels paired with white leather shoes. I have to give it to him, he doesn’t look his age, and if perusing a club—I’m sure he can pass for a much younger man.

That’s if he kept his big mouth shut.

“Where’s the birthday girl?” he announces with a huge grin, extending his arms to hug Mom. “Papa has a gift for you.”

Eric scowls. “I’m equally disgusted and turned on by you calling yourself Papa.”

“It’s this new thing he’s trying,” Nikki drags. “Just like when he went through the big daddy stage.”

“Better than Papi Chulo,” Mom complains. “I knew going to Spanish class at your age would have adverse effects.”

“I wanted to expand my linguistic knowledge,” Rocky defends with a smirk. “So when we traveled, I didn’t look like a dick and order the wrong food again. My ass hugged the toilet bowl all night long after eating that dish.”

Aunt Adriana overhears when she walks in with Uncle Julian. “So it had nothing to do with the young twins with the double D’s?”

“Are we back to fantasizing about twins again?” Nikki huffs.

“Baby, why would I want twins when I have you?”

I shudder, knowing something is about to be said that I don’t want to hear. My sisters are over by the food, devouring everything and blaming the post-pregnancy hormones again. Quietly, I walk over to them and leave Rocky trying to defend himself.

“Is it safe to stay here?” Millie asks, frowning. “Rocky looks like he’s telling a story, and I’ve heard way too much. I’m not sure whether I’m supposed to be fortunate or unlucky in the father-in-law department.”

“Unlucky,” Will contests with annoyance. “Try growing up with him.”

Ava snorts. “Oh really? Try growing up with Lex Edwards as your father and tell me if that’s easier.”

Will rubs his chin with a dismissive glance. “Try sleeping with his daughter behind his back and almost losing everything you’ve worked your entire life for.”

“You guys,” I butt in, trying not to roll my eyes at them. “This isn’t a competition. You both have loving fathers who are your family no matter what. So they’ve got their quirks, big deal.”

Arms wrap around my waist, prompting me to smile until I realize it’s not the arms I’ve grown accustomed to wrapping around my naked body. My hands clutch onto his wrists as I turn around to face Cruz.

“You’re here,” I greet, a little too high-pitched, which makes it sound like I’m surprised. “I thought you were coming later?”

“The meeting finished earlier than expected,” he simply replies.

“Oh, how did it go?”

Cruz scratches the back of his neck. “We’ll talk about it later.”

My attention shifts to Haden and Presley walking out the large back patio doors, and right behind them—is the one person I’ve been waiting for.
