I press the button, waiting for the window to slide down.

“Don’t do anything stupid,” he warns me.

My hands clutch the steering wheel, knuckles turning stark white. “Anything else?”

“You love her. That’s why this hurts,” Dad says in a low voice so no one can hear. “Don’t jump into bed with someone else, thinking that will take away the pain. You do that. You’ll lose her forever.”

With a twisted mouth, I glance over to where my brother has his arm over the woman I love.

Love—what bullshit.

“She’s going home with another man. I’m not the one breaking the rules, father.”

And with that, I close the window and slam my foot on the accelerator to get the hell out of there.

My fingers trace the rim of the glass, slowly gliding against the smooth edge and eyeing the amber liquid with a desperate thirst. The bottle from the liquor cabinet is almost empty.

I’m sitting on my leather couch, remembering how Addison’s naked body was lying on this very spot as I licked every inch of her pussy clean after blowing inside her.

The memories haunt me, refusing to leave no matter how hard I try to focus on anything else. My phone is beside me, but there’s no message from her, or should I say no apology from her.

I scroll aimlessly, reading through my unread texts. An unopened text from Ariel is sitting inside my inbox. I open it, reading the lengthy message of exactly how she wants me to fuck her.

Dad’s voice plays in my head.

“Don’t jump into bed with someone else.”

How can I jump into bed with someone else when my dick doesn’t even stir at the dirty message sent to me? I’m fucking ruined, no chance of even getting hard for anyone else because Addison’s got a hold of me.

A new text appears on my screen. It’s from Andy.

Andy:Call me tomorrow when you can.

I hit dial without even thinking. The phone rings then he answers.

“Hey, Andy,” I greet in a stiff tone. “It’s late. Is everything okay?”

“Yeah, man. I just wanted to see if you’re free to come to Manhattan next week. Jessa’s book is launching, and since Lantern Publishing has everything to do with it, I want to make sure she takes a moment to celebrate her accomplishment.”

“Of course,” I tell him, blinking my eyes as my vision begins to blur. “Our management team has seen the numbers already. She’s an orange flag bestseller without even releasing.”

“It’s been a long time coming. I’m proud she’s finally doing this.”

I shake my head with a grin, still in disbelief. Andy and Jessa are finally together and living in Manhattan. Only a few months ago, she was in London, living with her ex-husband. I’m glad Andy went after her. The guy has been in love with her since we were teens.

During my last visit to Manhattan, I managed to catch up for dinner with both of them. But the last few weeks have been chaotic, with my focus all on Addison.

I take a deep breath, willing to rid my thoughts.

“So, when are you marrying the girl?” I ask him jokingly. “There are a few bets going around.”

“Is that so?” Andy chuckles. “I’m proposing after dinner next week. Kind of planned something special.”

“Congrats, man, just don’t say anything to your cousins. They all have big mouths.”

“Addy is probably the only one I can trust. I’ve texted her but haven’t heard back. She must be busy with studying or her new job.”
