“You do forget some parts of the job, though.”
“Do I?”
“Uh-huh, you keep forgetting the part where you’re supposed to give the Little, that’s me by the way, all the snickerdoodles and Pop-Tarts she desires.”
“You know, I’m beginning to think that I really didn’t spank you hard enough.”

Maeve moaned as she sat on the seat.
Gray glanced over at her. “Butt hurt, girl?”
“Yes. Should have bought a cushion. Of course, then Evelyn would probably work out that you’d spanked me. And buying a set of butt plugs off her was embarrassing enough. Not to mention the lube.”
Gray chuckled.
She froze, gaping at him as they drove off.
“What?” he asked.
“You laughed. Like actually laughed. It’s like seeing a leopard in the wild. Beautiful and amazing and rare.”
“Baby, it’s not that rare.”
“Uh, yeah, it is.”
“Well, maybe I just have more reason to smile and laugh now.”
She sniffled.
“What is it?” he asked in alarm. “Is your bottom that sore?”
“No.” Although she should possibly lie so she got herself that cushion. “It’s just that you say the sweetest things.”
“Girl, I’ve told you not to call me sweet.”
“But you are, Grumpy Bear. Except when you’re spanking me. That’s just mean. Or when you stop me from eating what I want. Or when you’re scolding me. Or buying me butt plugs from sweet little old ladies.”
“You need me to do all those things. I know that you like me being in charge, being your Daddy, pushing you when you need it and making you accountable for your actions and thoughts.”
Drat him. He was right.
But it would take tickle torture to get that out of her.
“How far are we traveling today?” she asked.
“Think we’ll just go as far as Paducah. Find a motel and get some dinner then set out early tomorrow.”
“All right, Daddy.” She stared down at her bracelet. “I love my bracelet. And my other things. I don’t think saying thank you is enough.”
“Those things are as much for me as you, baby,” he told her gently. “Especially that bracelet. You’re to keep it on you at all times, understand me? That’s another rule.”
