“Don’t even think about it, girl.”

She stared up at him in trepidation.

“You’re not really mad, are you, Grumpy Bear?”

Then to her shock, he smiled. And his smile turned into laughter. Real laughter.

“No, baby girl. I could never be mad at you.”

After her bath,Gray had her sit between his legs on the floor while he did her hair into two braids.

He hadn’t spanked her. Nope, instead he’d gotten into the bath with her and proceeded to wash every inch of her. After they’d gotten out and he’d dried her off, he’d had her bend over the counter so he could insert the biggest of the anal plugs. She knew that meant he was going to take her ass someday soon.

And she couldn’t wait.

Now, she was dressed in a nightgown with French Bulldogs eating donuts on it while he did her hair.

“Grumpy Bear, why is there a mirror by the television?” she asked, staring at the free-standing mirror that had appeared in their room the other day. He said he’d bought it for her, and she loved it. But it was meant to stand in the corner of the room, not right beside the TV.

Gray reached for the remote, switching on the television. It went to a news station and he changed it over. But not before she spotted something.

“Wait! Go back,” she commanded.

“You don’t want to watch the news,” he told her. “It’s all depressing.”

“No, I think I saw someone I knew.”

He went back. And the story was still on. She listened to the woman on the television speak.

“Deputy Sheriff Carson Moon has been arrested today on charges of fraud and perverting the cause of justice.”

“I went to school with him,” she said as Gray turned it down.

“Did you?” he said in a casual voice.

Too casual.

Turning, she gave him a suspicious look.

“I haven’t finished your hair.”

“What did you do?” she demanded.

He raised his eyebrows. “What do you mean?”

“You got the names of my bullies, didn’t you? Carson was one of the worst. Did you . . . did you do this?”

Gray hummed. “I might have a list of names of the people who tormented you in high school. And I might have a friend doing some research into them.”

“Gray, did you . . . I mean, is he actually guilty?”

“Yep. That’s the best part. He was a bully in high school and now he’s a criminal in adulthood. Another one of your bullies has been having an affair, her husband ought to be getting the photos of her getting it on with his best friend about now. Another one makes porn movies, which her very straitlaced husband is going to be shocked about. Oh, and another one has been taking money and pretending to invest it while he’s actually been using it to fund his lavish lifestyle. There are more. But we’re still investigating them.”

“Gray, I can’t believe you did that.”

He cupped her chin. “Are you upset with me?”
