Jaxson
Savannah, GA May 6– Saturday afternoon
When I get out the shower, I notice three things. One, the sheets on my bed are gone. Two, the clothes on the floor picked up. Three, there's a folded sheet of paper on the table by the door. Sit down I wanted the chairs in the sitting area and read the note. It's from Brooklynn. She apologizes for not being able stay. Something has happened. She’ll let me know what it is when she can.
She also left her number. Picking up my phone, I intend to program the number into it but notice I have missed calls. Two are from hope. She also left me a text.
Hope:Hate to do this. Call when you get this. Pls.
I immediately pressed the call button. She answers on the second ring.
“Thank goodness you called me back. I didn't know what I was going to do.”
“Good morning, Hope. what's the issue? Your message seemed urgent.”
“It is and I'm sorry that I need to ask but I'm all out of ideas. I need your help.”
“I don't know how to take that. I'll leave it alone for now. tell me what you need.”
“Jakob is over a friend’s house. He spent the night over there last night with some friends. They're all supposed to go to another friend’s birthday party this afternoon. I'm supposed to pick him up from that party at around 4:30pm.”
“Alright. what do you need me to do?”
“Two things. The first, I need you to pick him up for me. The second, I need you to keep him until I'm done. The issue with the second is I don't know when I'll be done.”
“Mmm, hmm. Fine. Fine. Do I need to get some clothes from your house? Wait, he has some stuff here already.”
“You’ll do it?”
“Yes. Why do you sound surprised?”
“I had just expected you to give me grief or make some smartass comment. I never would have believed you would be so amenable.”
“I'm in a decent mood. enjoy it while it lasts.”
she laughs.
“OK. I'll see you tonight.”
“Sounds good. Oh, and Hope?”
“Yes Jackson.”
“Have fun.”
“I wish. I'll fill you in when I can.”
