I dashed inside just as I heard the latch opening. Through the door, I heard a quick conversation before Rhuron’s voice turned angry.
Something was wrong.
Washing my hands and buttoning my blouse, I rushed out to him.
“What is it?”
The driver was at the door, looking nervous.
“Tierner is off running after his mate, he’s going to snatch her,” Rhuron seethed.
My heart dropped, remembering the terror I’d felt a few night’s before.
Sure, things would turn out for the best for me, but that didn’t mean it would be the same for this next girl. Things could end up so much worse for her.
“We have to help her,” I said quickly.
Rhuron avoided my gaze. “He’s going to drive you back to the castle, I’ll go track down Tierner.”
“Let me go with you,” I countered.
“It’s not safe.” Closing the distance between us, Rhuron kissed my forehead. “I’d never forgive myself if anything happened to you. Please go with him.”
Frustrated, but wanting to understand, I nodded.
“Please get to her in time.”
