“The princes,” she corrected. “You may hold a place of privilege, but you have to understand a slight against this family can mean death for you.
“I wasn’t trying to be rude.” I replied, my voice sounding higher than intended.
“I know,” she sighed and patted my hand. “Just know that they won’t. I only stay here in the hope that eventually my mate will see me and know he is mine.”
“I get that.” I nodded. “I don’t even know where my mate is — he’s chasing after one of his cousins.”
“Tierner?”
“That’s the one. Apparently, he’s going to go and snatch his mate, which puts everything at risk.”
“Look at me,” she directed, taking my hand and staring into my eyes. I let out a nervous laugh and tried to avoid eye contact. “I’m just checking in on him. I need your help for that.”
“Okay,” I exhaled nervously and met her gaze.
Her eyes were entirely black and began to look like galaxies as she starts to have visions.

Her dark lips pursed at first, and then parted in thought.
“He’s being attacked, his cousin is there,” she explained.
“Where is he?”
“Kiernsville,” she said slowly.
“I have to go,” I stood up quickly and tried to leave.
“No, there’s nothing you can do for him… please — stay.”
“You stay by your mate, even if he doesn’t know you’re here. I need to stay by mine.”
