“Everything.”

His voice was disappointed and tight, and I hated that he felt like this.

“I don’t exactly have fine dining and a five-piece bathroom, but you could always run away here if you want to,” I offered. Dralle laughed and kissed the side of my head, not caring about my frizzy messy hair.

“I might take you up on that, don’t say it lightly.”

I smiled and sighed.

“How did your day go?”

“Oh, not great.” I wanted to be honest with him, but I didn’t need him to get angry on my behalf.

“What happened?”

“I told my younger brother I was dating a guy, and he got mad and treated me like a teenager,” I rolled my eyes. “He’s got separation issues and thinks I’m vanishing. All I said was that I was dating you.”

“He’s going to lose his mind when he finds out that we’re fated mates,” he laughed.

I wanted to laugh too, but it was too real.

“I hated spending time away from you now that I have you.”

His voice echoed through the bathroom as he spoke; it was soothing and pleasant.

“I could have used more time around you too.” It was awkward to admit, but it was true. “Can you stay the night?”

“Try to stop me,” he teased.

I smiled and relaxed.

Before long, we’d ordered pizza and were quickly climbing into bed to try and finish another round before the food arrived. Dralle was something different and so good.

I hadn’t let myself feel this good in years.
