“It was a normal day, just a Monday kind of day like any Monday. It wasn’t a bad day, I mean, none of my days are bad, really, it was a good day. Just like all the days. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday…” she petered off.

He snagged a piece of lettuce from her rapidly growing pile. “You know the kids don’t eat salad, right?”

She stopped and looked at her pile. She’d inadvertently chopped both heads of lettuce from the bag.

“I’m chopping it for tomorrow, and the rest of the days…”

He cut her off. “Yeah, you mentioned Tuesday, Wednesday… You’re babbly today. Somebody’s got a secret, I’m thinking.”

Bex laughed. “Okay, I do, but it’s not bad and you can’t have it.”

Rhys leaned forward and kissed his wife, a spark in his eye. “Okay, sweetness.”

Later that night, with her hands wrapped around the spindles of the headboard, he slowed his movements and came to a stop. He caressed her back and she grunted with impatience and pushed back against him. He remained still, trying not to laugh. She looked over her shoulder at him, her hair flopping over one eye, her eyebrows drawn, body trembling on the edge.

“Rhys?”

He leaned forward and licked the back of her neck. She dropped her head. A tremor rocked her frame.

“Please, handsome.”

He nuzzled her neck, murmured, “Somebody has a secret.”

“Oh, no,” she moaned, “Don’t do this to me!” She pulled away from him a couple of inches then rocked back hard against his pelvis.

“Oh, no, sweetness,” he chuckled. He clamped his hands around her hips and held her still. She dropped her head.

He dropped a kiss on her shoulder.

“I’ll tell you what. You tell me your secret; I’ll tell you mine.”

She perked up. “You have a secret?”

He kissed her neck at the point where it met her shoulder then whispered in her ear, “Want to help plan a wedding?”

Bex straightened in shock, losing him from inside her in the process. He grinned into her startled face.

“Barrett?” she asked.

Rhys grinned and nodded, his hands still holding her hips loosely. She let go of the headboard and clapped her hands over her face.

“Holy manoli,” she breathed, then looked at him out of the corner of her eye. “You know about Willa.”

“Pregnant,” he confirmed.

“This is amazing!” Bex squealed and shifted on her knees, throwing one foot over the edge of the mattress to climb off the bed.

The smile dropped from his face. He reached for her, wrapping a strong arm around her ribs.

“Where are you going?” he asked incredulously.

“We have a wedding to plan!” she exclaimed, her face lit with excitement.

He dragged her back down onto the bed and pulled her under him.

“Ten minutes,” he growled, “you can plan in ten minutes.”

He grasped her leg gently and threw it up over his hip and thrust inside. Her eyes went hazy, and he grinned down into her pixie face.
