I put my hands to my face. “Oh my gosh!”

He looked up at me, his face serious as always. He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a ring which he held between his thumb and forefinger.

“You’ve been carrying my ring around in your pocket?”

“For days,” he rumbled.

I laughed, reached for his hair, and tunneled my hands through it.

“This is quite the surprise, Viking,” I murmured.

“A good one?” he rumbled back at me.

“Very good.”

“You going to accept me?”

God! I felt that, too.

“Yes.”

He moved to place the ring on my finger, but I forestalled him.

“First, I have something that I’ve been carrying around that I want to show you, too.”

I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket, pulled up the video with shaking hands, and turned it toward him so that he could see.

He stilled as he watched the short video, then dropped his hands to rest on his lean hips and stared at the ground.

“Barrett?” A tiny frisson of fear unraveled low in my belly.

His other knee hit the ground.

Reaching out, he grasped my hips and pulled me closer. He rested his forehead on my belly.

I tunneled my fingers into his hair and held his head in my hands, as he held our love between his.

His back heaved once and then he exhaled.

“You going to accept us?” I asked with a smile, well knowing the answer.

At that he stood and grasped my hand. He placed the ring on my finger with shaking hands and gathered me against his big chest.

“Today, tomorrow, forever,” he murmured into my hair and pressed a sweet kiss to the top of my head.

“Today, tomorrow, forever,” I agreed.

He led me over to sit on the bench.

“There’s more I need to discuss with you. I’m also going to remind you that we have a peanut gallery,” he said, a small smile on his severely handsome face.

I looked to the window to see almost everyone I loved pictured within that frame. I smiled big and held up my left hand to show them. They erupted into cheers that we heard from fifty feet away. Barrett released his big boom of a laugh and I turned in time to catch his gorgeous smile.

We sat down on the bench, our knees angled together, my hands in his.

“How many weeks are we?” he asked.

“We are about nine or ten weeks,” I paused. “Barrett, the baby’s due date is May twenty-eighth.”
