I wanted to do it again.

The realization of what I nearly missed, the laughter, the sex, giving Jace a father, the future we mapped out, it all hit me in that moment. We were getting a second chance. Actually, a third chance. Who gets a third chance? My entire body relaxed.

“Yeah, baby. I’m good.”

“Come.” He lifted his arm in invitation. “Lie down with me and have a nap.”

Two hours later, I stretched awake.

Vander lay beside me, on his side, curled around my back.

This.

This was happiness.

I lay still for as long as I could, then eased out from under his arm. He rolled to his back and let out a huge snore.

I smiled. Charming.

My book, The Naughty Pine, lay on the bedside table on my side. I slid it over and opened it looking for my bookmark and had to stifle a laugh.

Sticky tabs.

Sticky tabs all throughout with happy faces drawn onto them.

“I thought we’d start at the beginning and work our way through.”

His deep, sleepy voice made me jump.

I looked at him and laughed, then hit him with my book.

He wrestled me to the bed.

“You can’t hit me!” He laughed and grabbed the book from my hands. “You’re not the Dom, I’m the Dom!” He pinned my wrists over my head and hovered over me. “I get to spank you on your gorgeous ass, you don’t get to hit me with a book! That’s abuse!”

I smiled up at him and he smiled back. I waited until he shifted his weight off of me before I pounced.

“Gotcha!” I screamed. I felt his hand jerk under my knee.

He arched, yelling, “Ow! My finger! I think you broke my finger!”

I jumped off him and reached for his hand.

“Oh no!” I cried. “Which one? Not the good one!”

“The good one?” He huffed, shaking out his hand. “Which one, exactly, is the good one?”

I chortled. “The good one. You know, my favourite. The one that makes me feel good.”

His mouth fell open and he grabbed me once again, pulling me under him. “I think I’ll have to introduce you to all my fingers. What do you think of that?”

“I’ll host a meet and greet.”

Vander chuckled deep in his chest and covered my laughing mouth with his.

Minty canceled our Bookstagram meeting for Saturday. She had last minute plans for a spa weekend with the girls she worked with, Willa and Junie. She seemed excited about it and told us she’d tell us the story at our next meeting.

With Bookstagram night canceled, Amber and I decided to pack up all Yiayia’s things on Saturday while Vander and Gus took the boys out, then Jace and I planned to sleep at Vander’s.
