“He’s offered. I don’t know if I want to,” she admitted. “He hurt me. A lot.”

“Are you going to divorce him?” I murmured.

“He doesn’t want that, but I don’t know if I can get past it. It makes me a hypocrite because I hurt him first.”

“What would you tell your client if they were in your situation?” I bent over my knees and rolled a small pebble back and forth with my index finger while I waited for her to answer.

Amber held her silence for several moments. “I’d tell her she needed to work out her personal issues that were contributing to the problem before deciding what to do about her marriage,” she answered wryly.

I peeked up at her and bumped her lightly with my shoulder. She smiled and bumped me back.

Later that night, I went online and printed off a slew of information about franchising.

I took it to bed with me, but promptly fell asleep while trying to read through it.
