I groaned. I had sisters. I should have known this. “I did not know women talked about their sex lives with other women.”

Gus leaned over and placed a commiserating hand on my shoulder. “Nothing, and I mean nothing, is sacred.”

It took a moment for that information to sink in before I realized something. “She’s plotting against me.”

Vander burst out laughing while Gus took a pull of his beer, nodding affably. “Probably.”

Vander cast me a sideways look, his lips tipped up on one side, amused eyes assessing. “Do you know about aphroditesharem?”

“Aphrodite’s who?” Somewhere along the line I’d lost track of the conversation.

He clarified. “Do you know about her Bookstagram nights?”

I shrugged. “Yeah. She has a little book club with Amber and Ruby, right?”

Gus’s eyes crinkled. “Look it up on Instagram. You might find it interesting.”

Vander chuckled deeply. “You might develop a sudden interest in reading.”

I pulled out my phone, and Gus winced. “Don’t do it here. Minty’s like my sister.” He laughed. “But don’t forget to do it.”

“And let us know if you want any book recommendations,” Vander added with a smirk.

I pulled out my cell and snapped a quick pic of Minty and her girls through the window. It would be blurry, but that didn’t matter.

Minty’s face never lost its smile the whole way home. Spending time with her girls left her happy and relaxed. Although I missed Brayleigh already, I was happy to have the time with Minty.

Monday morning, we went out for breakfast and then took a walk down by the pier. Monday night I gave her double the orgasms to make up for what I did to her Sunday. Tuesday to Thursday, Minty followed her regular routine, going to work with Junie and having her boys over Tuesday night. Wednesday night, she called me, and we had a long conversation on the phone, ending with me finally catching on that she’d been busy with her vibrator.

I demanded she stop.

She breathlessly declined and invited me to hang up if it was too much for me. I listened as she panted through what sounded like a spectacular orgasm, ending with me pissed and turned on in equal parts and her laughing.

Thursday night, I pulled out the tie from Barrett’s wedding, tied her to our bed, and fucked her into the mattress.

Friday, I got my ‘yes’ day.

Chapter Thirty-Eight – Walk of Shame

Lucky

She shone as bright as the sun; her face lit up from within.

As she belted out the lyrics, the crowd took to their feet, hooting and hollering, not the least of which came from the back corner where all her girls cheered her on.

Her voice, always so coolly moderated, did not prepare me for the power she unleashed as she sang. Even in the two rehearsals we had she hadn’t sang like this. I set my guitar down when she finished and walked over to her.

“I’m so damn proud of you.” Pride that almost hurt filled my chest as I smiled down at her. “And more than a little turned on,” I admitted with a laugh.

She huffed out a laugh, her smile spreading wide as she leaned into me.

“Come on,” I cupped her elbow. “I’ll help you down the stairs.”

Barrett’s dark chuckle sounded over the mic. “Do we have a doctor in the house?” He jerked his head in my direction. “Cause this boy’s going to need artificial resuscitation when his woman is done with him.” Barrett’s wide smile flashed in his beard as he turned to me and chuckled. “Try to keep up.”

I shook my head and laughed in surprise as Minty smiled up at me softly. This second song was not part of the plan, and I wondered when and how she arranged to pull this off. She fascinated me. Always had. I suspected she always would.

Releasing her elbow, I wagged my eyebrows at her and moved back to my spot, slinging my guitar into place and waiting for the song to start so I could join in.
