Meeting my eyes, he replied, “I’ve given enough away for a first date, and we haven’t even made it to our cars. How about we hold off on discussing stats until at least our third date.”

“Sure.” I shrugged. “But in the interest of full disclosure, I do not share. Ever.”

“After which point?” he asked, his head cocked to the side curiously.

“Before my clothes come off,” I answered wryly.

He laughed and threw his arm around my shoulders, squeezing me to his side. “Fair enough.”

Only a couple of inches shorter than Barret, he towered over me, his body deliciously hard against mine.

A zing of awareness skittered along my spine swelling my breasts.

I drew in a deep steadying breath.

“Yeah,” he said, his voice a bit wobbly. “I feel it, too.”

Chapter Seven - PG

Minty

He followed me to Bliss Kitchen, my only 100% trigger-free restaurant aside from Spuds.

Sitting across from me at a table for two by the window, I perused the menu looking for something for him to eat. Coming here was a mistake. I should have chosen somewhere different. Something he would like.

“What are you ordering?” he asked.

I looked up.

His friendly grey eyes rested on my face.

“I’m sorry. I should have thought this through better.”

His eyebrows rose. “What are you sorry for?”

“For bringing you here. Is there anything here for you to eat?”

“Loads,” he assured me. “I already know what I’m going to order. What are you getting?”

“I’m going to go with the burrito bowl.”

He smiled. “We have similar tastes. I’m getting the loaded burrito fries. See? We’re all good.”

He closed his menu and asked, “Do you ever eat meat?”

“I do,” I answered carefully.

How much to disclose? Usually, I didn’t get past the first or second date with a man so there was no need to reveal such personal information.

Lucky was different, he would show up in my life sporadically one way or another. It wasn’t that I felt ashamed of having OCD, I just didn’t like to give it center stage in my life. Bringing it front and center on a first date seemed to be doing just that.

His husky voice interrupted my musings. “Is this a difficult question for you?”

I pursed my lips then smiled. “It shouldn’t be. I don’t much like discussing my food preferences. I do eat meat occasionally,” I answered slowly. “But I can get turned off of it really easily.”

“Ah,” he nodded. “It’s mostly psychological.”

“Yes,” I nodded, then waited to see if he would push it further.
