Chapter 10

Camilla

Mr. West was sittingin my office, his coffee cup placed right where I was posed for Sebastian just a little while ago. It was a thrill taking a dirty picture in my office, and thought it would brighten up his day.

“We’ll need to discuss marketing materials for next quarter. Have you had time to think about any strategies you think might help us reach more of the younger generations?”

I forgot all about it. Shit. “I’ve got a couple going through my head. When did you want to discuss it? I’ll make a mock presentation up for you and the other partners.”

“Let’s do it next week. It seems like everyone is swamped this week with cases. By the way, it looks like you’ve had no problem getting referrals. You’re going to do great at this firm.”

As soon as he shut the door, I picked up my phone wanting to read Sebastian’s response.

Sebastian:Umm... if all goes well... maybe May 23rd...

He was making me wait two weeks? All this anticipation was killing me. I just need him.

Abigail was more up to date in that department, so maybe she could give me some insight. Was it normal?

Me: U free tonite?

My usual morning consisted of checking emails, return calls to clients, and prepping for cases. Today seemed to be a less busy day than I was used to, not that I would complain. It was nice to get a little break from the chaos.

Abigail: For you, of course.

Me: Alright, meet at my house. 5:30pm. Bring wine.

I knew having her bring wine would indicate that we have a lot to talk about and she would get the hint. Abigail knew there was something going on between Sebastian and I. Hell, with our chemistry it was hard to hide.

Abigail: Your wish is my command. See ya.

I tried to stay busy, keep my mind off Sebastian but it was harder than I anticipated. That man enters my thoughts often.

A knock at my office door made me jump. “Come in.”

“Ms. Cade, would you be okay with me leaving a little early today? My little boy’s sick.” Alyson asked.

“Of course, did you ask Mr. West?”

“Yes, ma’am. He said to confirm you weren’t expecting any visitors before I left.”

“Nope, no one. Go home and take care of your boy. We can handle it.” I replied, smiling.

One thing about this firm, they were very family oriented. I loved that. Not many businesses anymore could say that.

I looked at the clock and it was already close to four with all my work already complete for the day. As a partner, I didn’t have to ask permission to leave early. My purse was placed on my shoulder and keys in hand when I knocked on Mr. West’s door. “Leaving early. Got done with everything and gonna take the victory. Have a good night.”

It only meant I could shower and change before Abigail showed up now. A warm bath sounded exquisite right about now. I’ve been considering switching to flats because of the pain I’ve been receiving from the heels.

The drive home was quiet, but my mind wandered about the possibilities with Sebastian. Could he be my soulmate? Was fate pushing us together for a second chance? It seemed like it. No way would I have ever moved back here unless I got that partnership.

As I pulled into my driveway, my phone beeped.

Sebastian: Just kidding. Let’s not set a date for that. Makes it lose it’s anticipation. At least for me. It’ll happen naturally. How was your day? Mine’s been shitty besides your picture of course.

Me: It wasn’t bad. Just got home to take a bath and then Abigail’s coming over with wine.
