My alarm blared, making me jump out of bed. I don’t even remember laying down. The clock showed seven in the morning. I can’t believe I slept over twelve hours. That’s a new record for me, maybe Camilla had an effect on me. I couldn’t wait to sleep real good with her lying next to me every night. I chuckled, who was I kidding? If she was next to me every night, I’d probably get less sleep than I do now. Who could sleep next to that every night without wanting some action? Those guys in Raleigh don’t understand what they gave up, one hell of a woman.
Yawning, I walked to the kitchen to find something to eat before heading into work. Usually, I would make waffles or pancakes with some fruit but Fruity Pebbles were poured, the TV turned on, so I could catch up on the news before I left for the day. The forecast for today was a high of 83 degrees. There weren’t many days in Arkansas where you get nice weather, so I learned to take it while I could. I contemplated riding my motorcycle to work, even though I usually walked. Since I didn’t have much extra time to go to a gym, walking to work gave me extra cardio. Screw it, one missed session wouldn’t make a difference. Nothing competes with good weather and an open road. I’m going for it.
I washed my bowl out in the sink, threw on my scrubs, and was ready for the ride. It wouldn’t be as great as having Camilla on the back, but it’ll do.
My mind raced back to that night when she was in my lap, so eager and ready. I could’ve taken her right then and there, and it would have been mind blowing I’m sure, but something kept telling me to wait. I’m sick of waiting, my body needed her now.
I love the fact she thought I was a catch. Most women like when they find out I am a doctor, but after figuring out my schedule, they run away. No one could handle the long hours, and lonely nights thus far. Here’s to being hopeful that Camilla will be different.
The door’s locked and I start my engine. A sexy purr erupting from my bike. Everytime, I smile at the sound. I promised myself as soon as I could afford it, I’d buy myself a motorcycle and ride as often as I could. When I landed my job at the practice, after a few checks I leased the beauty. I patted her as if she were a horse,Come on baby, let’s do this. I strapped my helmet on, kicked it into gear, and took off. Traffic was light which always made for a more enjoyable ride. The sun was shining brightly, making me enjoy the ride that much more. The breeze ripped through my scrubs, making it a little chilly. Next time, I’ll be sure to wear something over my bottoms.
The hospital was only a couple blocks away from my house, so I was never late. I have never been tardy a day since I started.
One more stop light to go, it was bright green, so I didn’t tap my brake at all, just cruised right through until my body was ejected off the bike and into the air. The thing I heard was a crunch.
Chapter 12
Camilla
The office smelledlike warm chocolate chip cookies.
“Did you light a candle or something? It smells wonderful here.”
Alyson pointed to the candle burning on her desk. “Bought four of them on sale last night. Can’t say no to a good sale, like ever. Glad you like it.”
As I opened my office door, my phone rang with Abigail’s name flashed on the screen. “Hey, can I call you back? I just walked into the office.”
“Sebastian’s been in a wreck. He was on his motorcycle. You’ve got to get to Lakeview right away. Room 302. Hurry!” She’s crying hysterically into the phone.
“I—-I gotta go. Cancel any meetings for me today. Emergency.” I told her rushing out the door, turning on my car and racing to Lakeview.
I rushed to the hospital running every light I possibly could. When I arrived, I almost forgot to put my car in park. Leaving everything in the car, I rushed inside and headed to room 302 without any hesitation.
When I opened the door, tears filled my eyes. Abigail was sitting next to Sebastian sobbing and Jonathan was nowhere to be found. Where the hell was his best friend?
