“Of course, are you? Got your speech ready yet?”

“Wait, I have to give a speech?”

“The best man always gives a speech. Better get to it.”

His eyes got big and he immediately got up to look for a pen and paper.

The rest of the evening was delightful, conversing with his mother. She had me pull out an old trunk filled with pictures of him as a little boy, awards, and even a keepsake from his first haircut.

Chapter 24

Camilla

Today was Abigail’swedding day.

“I...don’t know. What if I’m making a mistake? Marriage is forever.. I don’t believe in divorce..”

Jonathan was fantastic. Anyone would die to have what they share in a heartbeat. “Girl, you have the perfect man who is head over heels for you. Treats you like a queen, and wants you to be his wife. Don’t forget this is forever for him too.”

Abigail plopped down in her chair in front of the vanity and looked at herself in the mirror, “but what if in five years, I gain weight after having our children, and he doesn’t find me desirable anymore?”

I laughed, “he’ll love you even more for being the mother of his children. It’s more than just looks. He makes you laugh, treats you good, and is going to be an excellent partner and father. Stop stressing yourself out, and enjoy your day.”

After I calmed her down, it was time for the wedding to begin. Before doors opened, I hooked my arm with Sebastian’s to walk down the aisle together. He was dripping in sexiness and I just wanted to peel it off him. All I could think about was one day this was going to be us. I would be walking down the aisle marrying Sebastian. I wasn’t in a rush, but he was the man for me. After the others made their way down, it was time for the big reveal.

The wedding march began to play and the doors opened. Jonathan’s eyes began to water, and his smile grew as Abigail and her father walked toward him. I was protective over my best friend, but he was perfect for her. I couldn’t ask for someone better suited for her.

“Who gives the bride away?” The officiant asked.

“I do.” Her father answered, kissing her on the cheek and then taking his seat.

Jonathan and Abigail joined hands, staring into each other’s eyes, and it seemed like all her doubts had gone away. I’d never seen her so happy.

“As we are gathered here today, to bear witness to the union of Abigail Parker and Jonathan Carlton, we take in account the many years they searched for their true love. They never gave up in their belief of true love until they met each other at a bookstore. Each day after that turned like a page out of their own special book, until we get to where they are today. They have decided to take the next step and enter into a partnership until death do them part.”

It was beautiful to watch the chemistry between them as the officiant spoke, never taking their eyes off each other.
