The ride over was smooth, and the resort was beautiful. “Here goes nothing.”

We walked up the walkway and went inside the resort.

“Hello, can I help you?” the receptionist asked.

I smiled, “I’m actually here to see if you have any openings for this Saturday for the outside venue?”

She pulled out a binder and flipped through it. “Well, it looks like we did have a cancellation for Saturday.”

“So it’s available for what time exactly?” I asked.

Everyone knew that a lady needed a couple of hours to get ready before her trip down the aisle. No way was I getting up at like five a.m.

“You can book the venue at an hourly rate. It’s available from ten a.m. to four p.m. Does that work for you?”

I pulled out my phone to consult with my future husband. That was six hours. We could have the ceremony at noon.

“Siri, call Sebastian.”

Ring. Ring. Ring.

“Hi, baby. How’s it going?” He asked.

“Well, that’s what I’m calling about. You know the resort a couple miles away. The outside venue they have has an opening from ten to four on Saturday. I was thinking we could have the ceremony around noon. That would give us plenty of time to spend time with the guests and head out around three o’clock.”

He was laughing on the other end. “Honey, it sounds like you have a great plan. I’m happy with whatever you choose. Just tell me where to be and when. I love you.”

I hung up and booked it. It was a great price at only $300 an hour. Plus, it came with tables, linens, and chairs. That left room in the budget to be able to spend a little more on my wedding dress which was my next task.

After signing the paperwork and getting back to the car, “Let’s go find me a dress, shall we?”

“Off to see the wizard.” Abigail shouted. I had never been much on fashion, but I had always dreamed of a beautiful wedding dress. Even though it was only one day, it was my special day.

We stopped when I saw a beautiful white lace ball gown in a window.

I immediately found a clerk. “Ma’am, I would like to try that dress on in a size six, please.”

“Follow me. Your friend can sit in the chair by the mirrors. We will have you come out and show her.”

Abigail sat outside while I put the dress on, and I began to tear up. I looked like a princess. I stepped out of the dressing room, and Abigail was in tears too.

“You look stunning,” she told me.

This was my dress.
