My alarm goes off and I stop.
“I told Tina I would be back in an hour.” I stare into his eyes.
“Well then let’s finish,” he says, carting me back to the bed and thrusting into me steadily while massaging my clit.
“Don’t come without me. I’m almost there!”
He speeds up faster, sending me into a frenzy and I can’t hold off much longer.
“Come for me!” I yell.
Just as I say it, he pumps one last time and stiffens.
“Fuck, babygirl. I’m never gonna be able to get enough of you.”
He slips beside me, and I lay on his chest.
“So, let’s keep this between us just for another week. And then you can tell your friends. I just want to enjoy this before everyone else knows our business.”
“Understood. Whatever you want,” he says, kissing my forehead and stroking my hair.
He is showing me what I’ve been missing for ten years and I never want to go back to a loveless relationship.
I deserve a man that treats me well, has enough respect to listen when I speak, and that fulfills my desires.
So far, Brodie checks all the boxes. He may very well be the answer to my prayers.

BRODIE
The surprise visit from Vanessa last night is just what I needed. She has disrupted my life, but in a good way, and I can’t get enough of her. She’s like a drug, and I crave her constantly. As much as I like her sex drive, there’s more that I need. A relationship based purely on sex will fail, but I don’t think it’s all we have. Sure, we have already discussed some of the important things like what we expect in a relationship and our deal breakers, but I need to know her on a deeper level.
Sexual chemistry plays a role in a healthy relationship, and we have established that this won’t be an issue. In fact, something tells me she is going to be a woman who is turned on by exploring new things. Vanessa has a side to her that I’m not sure she has shown anyone else before, and that makes it even more fun. She has come out of her shell and it’s beautiful to witness.
Me: Are you free tomorrow night?
I want to take her somewhere just the two of us. No fancy restaurant. No bed. I’m not kidding myself. In the past I have overlooked things because I liked a girl, and I can’t do that again. Especially, with what I want. My future involves having children. Is that something she is even considering in her future? If she doesn’t want more kids, that’s a deal breaker for me. I've always dreamed of having two or three kids running around.
Vanessa: I’ll see if Tina can watch Sherrie. See you at practice.
It’s easier to get this stuff out of the way early so I don’t fall for a girl that I can’t have a future with, and end up breaking my own heart. As much as I crave her, it wouldn’t be fair of me. No one should have to settle. Not on something like this.
I put my phone back in my pocket and give my attention back to the poker game.
“How do I always whoop your ass?” Damon asks, throwing down a royal flush.
“You cheat. That’s how. No one has that good of odds.”
Why do I even play against him anymore? Poker is not my strong suit, and I’m not much of a gambler. When there are slow days, and we have nothing to do, it’s about all we have.
“So, will you be going out with her again?” Damon asks, taking a sip of his cherry Pepsi.
“I hope so.”
“Whoever she is, you’re happy, and that’s what I care about.”
Things have been going well for us, this far, but it’s early. I’m scared shitless, because I want to open my heart to her, but there’s this doubt that she might not be ready. I’m not privy to everything that happened with her ex, and she might still have feelings for him. The timing of us meeting together did come at a difficult time for her, but maybe that’s exactly what is supposed to happen. Yet, I want to keep myself from falling for her.
