“What is that?” I asked.

She opened the box and removed a small leather pouch. “This is an herbal mix that witches used to use in the before times. It will force a shift.”

I reached out my hand and Jenny set the pouch in my palm. “Am I supposed to throw it at her?”

“Sure. Better yet, add it to food or drink. If you can’t get her to shift on her own, this’ll do the trick,” she said.

I shoved the little pouch in my pocket.

Jenny closed her eyes and held her hands in front of my face. I flinched, then held my breath while she did whatever weird priestess stuff she was doing.

After several long seconds, she lowered her hands and opened her eyes. “If you trust your wolf, he’ll lead you right to her. You two are more connected than most of the mated pairs I’ve met. It shouldn’t take you much convincing to get her to complete the bond.”

I nodded, then stood. This was my chance. My father was distracted with rebuilding the house and agreed to let me take matters into my own hands. I’d have a few weeks of solitude before he’d care that I wasn’t back home.

“Good luck,” Jenny said. “May the spirit of the moon be with you.”

And just like that, Jenny was back to the priestess talk again. I smiled. “Yeah, thanks.”
