Just as I give up on eating and set my fork down, Damon turns to me. “You ready to go test out that spell?”

His words send a shiver through me that I wish I could claim was from the magic. Instead, I’m pretty sure it’s just my sick sense of attraction to him.

“What do you want from me, Damon?” I ask. “Why even do this?”

He shrugs. “Because I can.” He glances at Sadie. “She stays here.”

“No,” I demand. “I want her with me. She’s my friend.”

“Tell her to go back to your room,” he says.

Tingling spreads through me and though I try to keep my jaw clenched, the words tumble out. “Go back to your room, Sadie.”

“You hurt her, I’ll kill you,” Sadie says.

“Those are big words coming from a little pixie,” Damon says.

“And you know damn well that I can’t tell a lie,” she says.

Somehow, her threat makes me feel a little better. “I’ll be okay,” I tell her.

Sadie stands. “You better return her in perfect condition, asshole.”

I watch her leave and have to talk myself into not just running after her. Part of me wants to flee and let the spell wear out. But Sadie didn’t suggest I do that and right now, her advice is all I have to get through this.

Damon stands and holds out his hand. “Shall we?”

“Is that an order?” I ask.

“Not yet,” he says.

I get up and walk to his twin and stretch my hand down to him. “Want to walk me?”

Corbin grins then throws a dirty look at his twin before taking my hand. “I’d love to.”

When his warm fingers wrap around my hand a rush of heat spreads through me, making me suck in a breath. His touch does things to my body that shouldn’t be possible without a lot more intimacy. It’s terrifying but also sends my eyes down to where I notice a bulge in his pants. I’m not the only one who feels something.
