“Aw, she doesn’t want to play,” Em says.

“That’s enough,” someone says.

I manage to turn my head and see Damon. How could he do this to me? He let them throw me around.

“Let her go, Carl,” he says.

It doesn’t sound like Damon. But nothing seems real right now. It’s all a weird foggy mess.

“They’re just having some fun, Corbin,” another voice says. Damon’s voice.

I turn and see him behind me. He’s not stopping them. He’s been watching them do this to me.

“She’s just a half angel,” Damon says.

“Damon, you went too far,” Corbin says. “I’m stopping this.”

“Leave her,” Damon says. “She’s fine.”

Corbin cuts through the crowd and scoops me up. The world spins and everything is a blur as he carries me through the crowd.

I hear groans of disappointment as we walk away but nobody follows us.
