“Hey girls!” Macy calls.
I can smell the greasy take out the second she walks in the door and my mouth waters. She’s got two huge bags full and I run to help relieve her of her booty. I have a feeling we’ll mostly be eating and gossiping tonight, but it’s probably exactly what I need.
Jule, Ginny, and Kia walk in behind Macy. They have sodas and energy drinks and Kia is carrying a jar of what looks like cold brew coffee. I am really going to miss these girls.
It doesn’t take long for us to load up paper plates with food and settle in around the small table in front of the couch. I sit on the floor and eat my Lo Mein noodles while listening to Kia give the play by play of her date last night.
“Turns out, demons donotfuck as well as shifters,” she says.
Everyone laughs and I can’t help but think of Adrian. There was nothing wrong with the way he fucked.
“I don’t know,” Ginny says. “I hear if you want the best sex of your life, you find an incubus.”
“Isn’t Liam an incubus?” Kia asks.
I tense. Liamsayshe’s an incubus. But I know he’s not. And now I’m thinking about what he’d be like in bed. How would a half-shifter, half-demon perform?
I take a huge drink of my Coke and push the thought aside. I should most definitely not be thinking about fucking Liam Drake.
The conversation turns when Macy asks about finals. It feels like reality was dropped on us.
“Do you think the test will be like what we’ve been practicing?” Ginny asks.
“I don’t see why not,” Kia says.
“Professor Cardale did graduate from this school, I’m sure he knows what it was like,” Macy says.
“I sure want to know what Professor Cardale is like,” Sadie says.
All the girls laugh and I nearly spit out my Coke. This is harder than I thought it would be.
“We all see the way you look at him,” Ginny says, elbowing me gently.
“And we’ve seen the way he looks at you,” Kia adds.
My brow furrows. “You have?”
“Oh yes,” Sadie says. “I know I don’t hide my crush on him, but if anyone had a legit shot at getting him in the sack, it’s you.”
I feel my face heat.
“You’re blushing,” Macy says.
“Hey, when you win that pass tomorrow, you should totally go to his room,” Kia says.
“In your bathrobe,” Ginny says.
“Fuck that, she should go naked,” Sadie says.
The girls howl with laughter and I join in, laughing so hard I have to wipe the tears from my eyes. When we catch our breath, I look at each of them in turn. “I’m going to miss you all.”
“We’ll visit,” Ginny says.
“I can’t wait to see you kick Liam’s ass,” Sadie says.
Macy lifts her soda can in the air. “Here’s to that.”
The others lift their cans and I add mine.
