“To Harper, and her ticket outta here,” Sadie says.

I grin and knock my can against theirs. It’s starting to feel very, very real. Tomorrow night, I’ll be saying goodbye.

We talk for another few hours, none of it studying, before we decide it’s a good idea to get some sleep.

Sadie and I box up the leftovers and add it to our tiny fridge. The girls’ night was the best thing I could have asked for.

“Thanks for everything, Sadie,” I say.

“Don’t go saying your goodbyes yet,” she says. “You’re not going to get out of here without a big, sappy cry-fest.”

“I mean it,” I say. “If not for you, I wouldn’t have made it through my first day.”

“I know,” she says. “Hey, get some sleep or you’re not going to make it through your last day.”

I hand her the last box of food and she sets it in the fridge. “Goodnight.”

“Night,” she says. “Can’t wait to see you kick that smug grin off of Liam’s face tomorrow.”

“Same,” I say, though without the others to distract me, the guilt has returned. But really, he’ll be fine. And like he told me, he can win next semester. This time, it’s my turn.
