“A pair of hellhounds and their incubus master,” I said.

Sam cocked an eyebrow. “An incubus? Fascinating.”

“Don’t even think about it,” Becca hissed.

“What? I’m not saying I’m going out to look for him. But if the opportunity should arise…”

“No. Down girl,” Becca said.

“Stay away from him,” Skylar said, a growl slipping into her words.

My brow furrowed, surprised at her reaction. It sounded possessive and jealous. That wasn’t an angry growl. Plus, it was the first time I’d heard her growl. Aside from the fact that it was sexy as hell, it was a little disturbing to hear that sound coming for an enemy. Unless she was reacting to her feelings for Elias.Shit.Sharing her was going to be harder than I realized.

“He’s dangerous,” Skylar said.

“Probably sexy as hell too, am I right?” Sam purred.

“Sure,” Skylar said. “Sexy, manipulative, deadly. I suppose if that’s your type?”

“Sounds like someone else I know.” Sam’s eyes flicked to me.

“I’m nothing like him.” This time I was the one who growled.

“Alright, calm down, everyone,” Becca said. “Sam, you’re not going to fuck the incubus.”

Sam whined and her lower lip protruded in a pout. I rolled my eyes. I dodged a bullet with her. Thankfully, I wasn’t bonded to her. She was a whirlwind in the sack, but she was just as much of an unknown force outside the bedroom too. Being with Sam was like being with a tornado. You never knew which direction she’d travel or how intense she’d be from one day to the next.

“I can fuck whoever I want,” Sam said.

“Will you all shut up?” Skylar called. “We’ve got it.”

“Got what?” Sam asked.

Skylar’s eyes shined with hope. “I know how to destroy it.”

I glanced at the book and read the line above Skylar’s finger. The spell was simple, exact words written out for us. “That’s it? We just get Elias to read that?”

Skylar wasn’t listening to me. She was taking photos of the pages with the spell on her phone.Smart. If the translation spell wore off, we’d be covered.

My chest filled with hope. This was nearly over. We’d get the stone back to the safe house and Elias could destroy it. After all this time, there would be an end to the pain this stupid piece of rock had caused. We’d be able to mourn Lola. To find peace and move on.

“You’re trying to destroy a moonstone?” Becca was leaning over the book.

“Why do you have a moonstone in the first place?” Sam asked. “I thought they were all destroyed.”

“It’s a long story,” I said.

“War’s brewing,” one of the brunettes said. I still wasn’t sure which was which.

“It is,” I agreed.

“We’re going to stop it, thanks to your help,” Skylar said.

“Imagine a war over something so small,” Becca said. “Not that its powers are small. You know what I mean.”

“We do,” Skylar said.

“Can I see it?” Sam asked.
