My eyes widened at the thought and I turned away from Elias. Where had that come from? Cain was awful and she probably did deserve to die. But I had never been the jealous type. What were these males doing to me?

A warm hand rested on my shoulder. “She knows there’s nothing between her and me.”

“But there was,” I said, feeling awful for even caring.

“There was, but it was about feeding, not love,” he said.

I shouldn’t care, but I did. “Why her?”

“Because she knew what I was and she was willing,” he said. “But it’s been a year since we were intimate.”

I turned to look at him. “A year? How did you go so long.” Then I realized what I was asking and held my hand up. “Never mind. I don’t want to know and I don’t care who you were sleeping with. I just hate her.”

Elias smiled. “You’re cute when you’re jealous.”

I glared at him.

He caught my chin in his hand and lifted it gently. Then he lowered his lips to mine.

It felt like fire roaring to life when our lips touched and the heat spread through my body, igniting my core. His kiss reminded me of how lucky I was. Even if we had a struggle ahead of us, at least we got to work through it together.
