I wasn’t here to waste time. Quickly, I lifted my hands and shot my magic at the creature.

He yelped as the bolts hit him before he fell to his side, whimpering. I felt numb as I stared down at the injured hound. The scent of singed fur hung in the air.

“Where is Skylar?” I asked, my voice like ice.

Hadrian was already shifting back to human form. He lay on the ground, naked and clutching his stomach. His breathing was shallow.

“Tell me now,” I said.

He looked up at me, pure anger in his eyes. Nostrils flaring, jaw set, he shook his head.

I lifted my arms, the sparks still dancing around my hands and flowing up my arms. “I will kill you.”

“You’re a disgrace,” he spat.

I knelt and met his gaze with mine. “Skylar is my mate. If David harms her, I will kill all of you.”

“She’s your mate?” Jasper’s voice came from behind me.

I turned to see him standing. He was moving slowly, but he was recovering already. Another perk of being a hellhound, they were fast healers.

I stood and faced Jasper. “You know something?”

“David won’t hurt her,” he said.

“I don’t give a shit, I need to know where she is,” I said.

“Tell us,” Xander said. He was in his human form again and standing next to me, fully naked. He didn’t care. Most shifters were as comfortable with nudity as us incubi. It was just flesh after all.

“He made a deal with a mage,” Jasper said. “That’s all I know.”

“Shelly,” Xander said.

“Let’s go,” I said.

“She’s okay,” Jasper said. “David isn’t you. He wouldn’t hurt another demon.”

I lunged toward Jasper and grabbed his shirt, lifting him off the ground. His eyes widened. He’d seen what I could do. He’d seen me at my best and my worst.

“Everything you think you know about me, everything you’ve seen me do, it will pale in comparison to what I’ll do to all of you if one hair on her head is harmed,” I said.

I lowered Jasper to the ground. “You pass that along to my brother.”

Xander was already on his way to the hearse. I turned back to the twins. “When it comes time to choose sides, you think hard about which one you should choose.”

I heard the engine start. At least if I was stuck with someone, Xander wasn’t the worst companion. He wanted the same thing I did, Skylar’s safety.

As soon as I climbed into the passenger seat, Xander hit the gas.

“You want to explain whatever the fuck that was back there, your majesty?” Xander asked.

“My father is the demon king,” I said.

“So that makes you a prince?” He glanced over at me, his brow furrowed.

“Yes,” I said. “Can we not focus on me?”

“Sure.” Xander was silent for a few minutes while he drove. Then he turned to me. “I’m glad you and me are on the same team.”
