“Are you sure?” He frowned. His eyes darted back and forth between mine.

“I’m sure, Theo.” I managed to steady my breath. “I’ll be right back.” I gave him a reassuring yet fake smile before turning on my heels and heading down the hall.

I FOUND MYSELF RUNNING through the long hallways of my father’s residence with a thousand questions crossing my mind. I looked at the vast clock hanging in the middle of the beige wall to check the time. It was almost eight. I grabbed the lower part of my dress to make it easier for me to run faster. Until I finally took a breath of fresh air, inhaling and exhaling heavily, looking at Shane sitting on a motorcycle.

My eyes grew wide in pure shock. I had never ridden on a motorcycle before, and he expected me to do it in a ball gown? It was crazy.

“Jump on!” The running motorcycle engine muffled his husky voice.

I spotted my fiancé-to-be’s best friend, watching me, baffled, with his jaw dropping to the ground. He must’ve grasped what was going on. That was when I knew if I didn’t make a move now, I’d have to go back to my engagement party and sayyesto the man I didn’t love.

“It’s now or never. Hop on!” Shane shouted, and for some reason, his voice tamed my rumbling heart.

Without a second thought, I dashed down the stairs of my father’s luxurious mansion, jumped on his Harley Davidson bike, and rode away with the sexiest, most dangerous man I’d ever met, a Mafia heir,Shane Vergoossen.
