hat are you thinking about?” Shane’s husky voice snapped me out of my thoughts as I snuggled into his arms in his king-size bed, his fingers in my hair that was now a total mess after hours of sex in every position. It felt like I couldn’t get enough of him, no matter how many times I had him. It was never enough. The physical attraction between us was insane, inexplicable, inimitable.

“I was wondering…” I hesitated. My heart was pounding like crazy. I knew I couldn’t keep my pregnancy a secret from him for much longer. It wasn’t fair. I played a hundred different scenarios in my head, with Shane being over the moon in some of them or completely furious and against it in others. But no matter the scenario, I knew what I wanted. “What do you think of having kids?”

“Kids?” I didn’t see his face, but I could tell he was taken aback. “I’ve never really thought about it. Why?”

“Nothing. I was just curious,” I quickly replied. I knew it wasn’t right of me, but I freaked out again. It was all happening so fast, too fast.

“I like the idea of having a family with you, Melanie,” Shane said softly, grabbing my chin with his fingers and gently tilting my head back so our eyes locked. “I think we should first set the wedding date.” He kissed the tip of my nose and smiled.

I propped myself on my elbows, resting my head on my hands, not breaking our eye contact. “Do you have a specific date in mind?”

“How about next month?” he asked, dead serious, and I sat looking at him in disbelief.

“Next month?”

“Yeah, why not?” He adjusted himself on the bed to hold me in his arms, leaving a soft kiss on my arm as he whispered. “I can’t wait to call you Mrs. Vergoossen.”

I felt a weird feeling in my belly. Excitement. Happiness. Butterflies. I felt like the luckiest girl under the sun. It felt like I had everything. Sometimes I was afraid it was all just a dream, and I would wake up to the dire reality I had lived in just a couple of weeks before. But it was happening for real. The feeling was real. Too real to ever recreate it. A love like this only happens once in a lifetime.

“Okay,” I said, unable to fight the laughter of pure joy. Everything seemed so easy, so natural with Shane, that I didn’t want to wait. I wanted to be his, officially and forever. “Let’s get married in a month.”

“Are you serious?” Shane looked at me, surprise on his face.

“I am,” I whispered, grinning as I kissed him. “I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

The next couple of days were like paradise on earth. The media reported on my unexpected wedding to Shane Vergoossen, New York’s most eligible billionaire and my family’s long-term enemy. We were the hot headlines of every newspaper and even got labeled asRomeo and Juliet. I couldn’t care less. I felt like I was floating on a cloud of bliss. I’d never been happier in my entire life. We set the wedding date, and I dove into everything about the wedding. I managed to forget about my dark past, about all the dreadful things I’d been through, and I started to believe it all was finally behind me. Sometimes I felt melancholic because I hadn’t heard from my parents. I felt like they abandoned me only because I was chasing my happiness. But then again, I had Shane, and he made sure to make me feel like the only girl in the world. I thought he was my blessing, my savior, and that I was about to create a new life by my dream man’s side. Little did I know, it was the calm before the massive storm.

“What are you doing, babe?” Shane’s voice rumbled against my ear as he slid his hands around my waist from behind and kissed my cheek.

“I’m trying to find something to wear. I’m going to be late for my meeting with Scar,” I replied, rummaging through the closet Shane had arranged for me in one of the rooms.

“If you ask me, I like you most naked,” Shane teased, whispering to my ear as he sucked my earlobe between his teeth.

“Shane!” I laughed. His warm, minty breath caused my body to tingle. “You’re unbelievable!”

He twirled my body so I could face him, his hands still on my waist, and I rested against the closet. We both smiled, looking into each other’s eyes. “Can you blame me?” he rasped, his tone low and growly. “You’re walking sex. Just a glimpse of you turns me on to my limits. And you look so sexy in this lingerie it’s driving me crazy.” His hand roamed my inner thigh, his touch burning against my skin, and he trailed hot kisses down my neck, making me tremble. He reached the hem of my lacy panties that were a part of the one-piece sultry white lingerie I wore, stroking my sensitive bud with his fingertips. He slowly slid the lingerie strap down my bare arm, kissing it gently, causing my muscles to tense. He continued rubbing my clit through the thin fabric. “Fuck,” he growled, his tone low and husky, alluring. He looked into my eyes, devouring me with his hungry gaze, and I was burning. My whole body was aching for his touch. My lips parted slightly, letting soft moans escape. Shane looked down into my eyes, licking his lower lip as he slid my panties to the side, and pushed two fingers inside me. My hips started moving, begging for more. Begging him to fuck me. “You’re so wet,” he rasped, his eyes black, filled with savage lust. “You need to get fucked. Hard.”

With one swift move, he turned my body so my belly was pressed against the wooden closet door and my backside ground against the growing bulge in his pants. I was panting in need, my legs spread, anticipating the feeling of his hard length shoving inside me, when my phone’s ringtone filled the room.

“Ugh,” I growled, undone. “It’s Scar. I have to go.”

“She can wait,” Shane whispered, teasing my lobe with his tongue.

I had to use every bit of willpower in me to resist him. I spun around and teasingly tapped the tip of his nose with my finger, “You have to wait for it, Mr. Vergoossen.” I kissed Shane’s lips, and he growled as I freed myself from his embrace. I cleared my throat, reaching for my phone, trying to extinguish the burning desire. “It’s Scar. Shit. She’s already at the boutique.” I turned to look at Shane, who ran his fingers through his hair, breathing heavily.

“Are you going to leave me like this?”

“Yes.” I chuckled. “I’m going to choose my wedding dress now with a friend I haven’t seen in weeks. This has to wait,” I said teasingly.
